Fenix Airbus A320
Startup Procedure
The following procedure(s) illustrate the functional steps required to prepare the aircraft for
flight - many of the tests and checks required in the real-world procedures have been
purposely omitted. The procedures are based on the aircraft being in the default “Cold and
Dark” panel state - which typically occurs if you start the simulator at a gate, or parking
location.

● Make sure all controls are set to appropriate start positions (flaps, spoilers, brakes,
throttles, switches, etc)

Pre-FIight

Tablet (CTRL+3)
● Click and hold down on finger icon
● Launch Fenix App
● Panel States Section
● Cold & Dark (set as default asks about activating too)

Overhead Panel (CTRL+5)

ELEC Section (Centre)


● BATTERIES to ON
● EXT PWR to ON (if available)

EXT LT Section (Bottom Left)


● STROBE to AUTO
● NAV & LOGO to 1

APU Section (Bottom, Middle)


● MASTER SW to ON
● START to ON

OXYGEN Section (Bottom, Left)


● CREW SUPPLY to ON

SIGNS Section (Bottom, Right)


● EMER EXIT LT to ARM
● NO SMOKING to AUTO

GNADIRS Section (Top, Left)


● ADR1, ADR2, ADR3 buttons to ON
● ADR1, ADR2, ADR3 knobs to NAV
● DATA to STS
● SYS to 1

MCDU (CTRL+1)
● MCDU Button
● FMGC
● INIT
○ FROM/TO ICAO codes (e.g. EGSS/EGPH)
○ COST INDEX (e.g. 20)
○ CRZ FL (e.g. 360 = 36,000ft)
○ WIND > WIND REQUEST
○ Next Page (->)
○ ZFW/CG (use tablet - Fenix App, Mass & Balance section, ZFW/MACZFW)
● F-PLN
○ Programme Flight
● PERF
○ Get Take Off data from Departure Perf App (Tablet, CTRL+3)

MCP (CTRL+7)
● Set QNH on Altimeters (both sides) and backup altimeter
- get from Departure Calculator Weather
● Configure as required for managed or selected mode

Instrument Panel
● Uncage Standby Attitude Indicator and set QNH

● SEAT BELTS to ON

ELEC Section (Middle)


● EXT PWR to OFF (if used)

Tablet (CTRL+3)
● Launch Fenix App
● Ground Services section
● Remove GPU
● Remove Chocks

EXT LT Section (Bottom Left)


● BEACON to ON

● Fuel Pumps to ON

Push-Back
(if required - arrange through Fenix App in Tablet ~ CTRL+3)

Overhead Panel (CTRL+5)

AIR COND Section (Middle)


● APU BLEED to ON

Centre Console (CTRL+6)

ENG Section (Middle)


● IGN to START
● ENG2 to ON
● Monitor N2 and N1 data (center of cockpit main panel - N2 highlighted while starting)
● ENG1 to ON
● Monitor N2 and N1 data (center of cockpit main panel - N2 highlighted while starting)
● IGN to NORM

AIR COND Section (Middle)


● APU BLEED to OFF

APU Section (Bottom, Middle)


● MASTER SW to OFF

Taxi

Flight Controls
● Flaps to Takeoff position (should agree with PERF calcs)
● Release parking brake

Take-Off
● THROTTLE to TOGA (auto-throttle should automatically switch on)
● Rotate at call-out airspeed - establish 15° climb
● GEAR to UP

Climb
● THROTTLE to CL DETENT (otherwise no auto throttle!)

MCP (CTRL+7)
● AUTOPILOT to ON

Centre Console (CTRL+6)


● TCAS to TA/RA
● FLAPS to UP

Overhead Panel (CTRL+5)

EXT LT Section (Bottom Left)


● Nose light to OFF

The aircraft should then look after itself if using “Managed” mode :)
