1- Description of Work:

Civil Electrical √ Mechanical Other (Please specify)

Location of Work: Demi Water Storage tank Start Date: 4/12/2021

End Date: 1/03/2021

Brief Description of Work:

To carryout Flushing for Demineralized Water Piping System using Demi water.

Purpose:

The purpose of water flushing is to eliminate from piping and equipment all foreign matter
such as metal pieces, welding slag, sand, bolts, tools, etc. which may otherwise plug pipes, control
valves and orifices and cause serious damage to moving parts of equipment. Water is a good
flushing medium to remove and carry away loose foreign material but does not eliminate rust or
other matter bonded to surfaces.

Scope:

This procedure applies Flushing for Demineralized Water Piping system marked on the
attached P&ID’s.

METHOD STATEMENT FORM

Flushing procedure:

 Joint Walk Down with HSE to the area before commencing the activity to ensure the
area are safe.
 Issue PTW and STARRT before commencing the activity.
 Prior to starting the flushing activities, it shall be ensured that the pump suction pipes
are Visual inspection for pump suction spool from strainer to the pump and cleaning by
air if needed
 Permanently installed valves shall be used to establish the flushing flow path as per the
attached marked P&ID’s and ON/OFF Valve list.
 The Demi tank filled up from SEWA Demi line
 Ensure that all the permanent supports installed.
 Ensure Tag Out are in place for open and closed valves and assigned watcher/s to
control opening and closing valves.
 List of authorized persons (Day and Night) to be attached along with the PTW and
prevent any other to enter the site.
To achieve the required criteria as per contract and performance of the pumps, we
divided the system to 5 steps, the step complete when the criteria achieved.

STEP-01: Demi water pumps Suction pipes Flushing

Suction line to be flushed by open flushing method depending on water head in the demi tank. The
interconnecting spool between the Pump and suction strainer to be dismantle and cleaned by
manually.
1. A blind flange to be installed on pump suction bore to be isolated and protected.
2. Suction strainer to be removed.
3. A temporary flange with sock-let connected with hose to be installed downstream the
suction strainer, the hose routed to SEWGA existing drain pit.
4. Open common tank suction valve 00GCK01AA009.
5. Open pumps suction valves one by one 00GCK01AA002, 00GCK01AA 003 and
00GCK01AA 004.
6. Monitor the water color at the disposal end and take a sample for test.

STEP -02: Demi water pumps Discharge pipe flushing

Discharge line to be flushed by open loop flushing method depending on water head by operate
Demi water distribution pump. Water streams through suction pipe from demi tank, suction
strainer, pump casing and discharge valve till the terminal points
1. All orifices to be removed.
2. A temporary flange with sock-let (with hose connected) to be installed on terminal
points.
3. Flushing discharge line by opening Suction valves 00GCK01AA002, 00GCK01AA
003 and 00GCK01AA 004 and discharge valves00GCK02AA002, 00GCK02AA 003
and 00GCK02AA 004 for each pump one by one.
4. Monitor the water color at the disposal end and ensure no observable debris then take a
sample for test.

All min flow line to be closed flushed by operating DW pumps one by one and close all
pump discharge valves system.
1. All orifices be removed.
2. Install temporary mesh before Demi water tank.
3. Flushing Min flow line by opening Suction valves00GCK01AA002, 00GCK01AA 003
and 00GCK01AA 004 and close discharge valves00GCK02AA002, 00GCK02AA 003
and 00GCK02AA 004 for each pump one by one and operate demi water distribution
pumps one by one.
4. Monitor the water color at the disposal end and ensure no observable debris then take a
sample for test.
STEP-04: Temporary Closed cooling makeup line Flushing
Temporary Closed cooling makeup line to be flushed by open flushing method
depending on water head by operate Demi water distribution pump. Water streams
through suction pipe from demi tank, suction strainer, pump casing and discharge valve
till the terminal points at makeup tank.
1. All orifices be removed.
2. A temporary flange with sock-let (with hose connected) to be installed on terminal
points.
3. Flushing Temporary Closed cooling makeup line by opening Suction valves and
discharge valves for each Demi water distribution pumps.
4. Monitor the water color at the disposal end and ensure no observable debris then take a
sample for test.
STEP-05: Denox suction line flushing
Suction line to be flushed by open flushing method depending on water head in the
Denox tank. The interconnecting spool between the Pump and suction strainer to be
dismantled and cleaned by hand.
1.A blind flange to be installed on pump suction bore to be isolated and protected.
2. Suction strainer to be removed.
3. A temporary flange with sock-let connected with hose to be installed downstream the
suction strainer, the hose routed to a tanker truck or nearest drain pit.
4. Open common tank suction valve 00GCK01AA010.
5. Open pumps suction valves one by one 00GCK01AA006, 00GCK01AA007 and
00GCK01AA008.
6. Monitor the water color at the disposal end and take a sample for test.
STEP-06: Denox Discharge line flushing up to water injection skid and Evap
