PRE-RMO/IOQM CAREER FOUNDATION

SESSION 2021-22
SCREENING TEST

Time: 75 Min. Date : 01-03-2022 Maximum Marks: 41

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
1. This paper consist of 12 questions which is divided into 3 sections.
Section A : Q. No. 1 to Q. No. 3 (2 Marks each)
Section B : Q. No. 4 to Q. 8 (3 Marks each)
Section C : Q. No. 9 to Q. 12 (5 Marks each)
2. There is no negative marking.
3. The answer to each question is either a single digit or a two digit number. All answers must
be marked using two digits.
4. Answer all the questions.

1. Suppose n is a positive integer. There is a unique fraction with denominator between 500 and
1000 of the form

n3
2
n  7n  5
that is not in lowest terms. When we put this fraction in lowest terms, its numerator is
2. In ABC. B = 360, C = 760. I is the incenter of ABC and D is the tangent of A-excircle
to BC. The circle passing through the circumcenter of BCD, B, C meets BI at E. Calculate BEC.
3. A positive integer is called a palindrome if it reads the same forwards and backwards. For example,
121 and 777 are palindromes. How many three-digit palindromes are divisible by 6?
4. Let n be a positive integer less than 2021. It is given that if a regular hexagon is rotated n degrees
clockwise about its center, the resulting hexagon coincides with the original hexagon. How many
possible values of n are there?
5. Two positive integers m and n satisfy
max(m, n) = (m – n)2

min(m, n)
gcd(m, n) =
6
Find sum of digit of lcm(m, n).

6. An isosceles trapezoid ABCD with AB||CD , AB = AD = BC = 3 and CD = 7 is inscribed

in a circle. A point E on the circle satisfies AC  BE . What is DE2?
7. Let a, b, and c be distinct positive integers with a + b + c = 10. Then there exists a quadratic
polynomial p satisfying p(a) = bc, p(b) = ac, and p(c) = ab. Find the maximum possible value
of p(10).

8. Let S be the set of all triplets of three consecutive positive integers all strictly less than 100 that
sum to a multiple of 9, multiply to a multiple of 9, or both. What is the number of triplets in S?
(The ordering within the triplets does not matter.)
9. For a positive integer n, define a function f(n) to be equal to the largest integer k such that n
is divisible by 2k. For example, f(8) = 3 and f(12) = 2. Now, let p, q, and r be distinct primes
less than 100, so that M is the largest value that
f((p + 1)(q + 1)(r + 1))
can take, and m is the smallest value. What is M + m?
10. Let p, q be prime numbers, such that the following equation
x4 – (q + 3 )x3 + (3q + 2)x2 – 2qx – 225 – p = 0,
has an integer root. Find p + q.
11. Points P and Q lie on sides AB and CD, respectively, of square ABCD such that AP = CQ =
1 and BP = DQ = 7. The circumcircle of BPQ intersects BC again at X and the circumcircle
a b
of DPQ intersects DA again at Y. Then, XY = , where a and c are relatively prime positive
c
integers and b is a positive integer not divisible by the square of any prime. Find a + b + c.
12. What is the sum of the digits of the smallest positive integer n such that

5n  1  5n  2  5n  3  5n  4
is less than 0.05?
