3. What is IGS-LOG?
• IGS-LOG is a software tool for continuous monitoring of single or multiple InteliGen, InteliSys
or IGS-NT controllers.
• The program can combine and display as one table event-driven history from all controllers in
a site.
• Data logger function, graphic or table view, adjustable logging period
• Export to XLS and CSV file format
• Offline view of saved logs

Installation
The program is contained in the controller installation packages and does not have separate
installation package.
Hint
The program requires HASP dongle and appropriate drivers. The drivers are installed automatically
from the main installation package. Do not cancel the installation of the drivers.

Without a valid dongle the program will run in time-limited mode for 60min only.

Settings

Basic
This is path to the directory where the Sites structure is stored. If
Sites directory InteliMonitor is istalled together with IGS-LOG, both programs should share
the same sites directory.

Hint
IGS-LOG 3.0 is not compatible with Sites from WinEdit!

according the charset in the controller.
If there are more languages in the controller, the preffered language
Preffered language will be used for history and log windows. If preffered language is not
found, default (first) is used.

Controller history
Controller history mode Automatic – gets all records form the controller
Explicit number – gets the number of records specified below

4. Communication
Direct, modem and internet connection types are available for connection to the controller. A
connection must be estabilished to start recording a log. It is possible to browse recorded log offline.

Open connection
Connection types
Controllers list

Open connection
Use the Connection menu item or the icon to open the connection. The sites window will appear,
which shows sites/gensets structure. Select the site you want connect to and select appropriate
connection type. See InteliMonitor documentation for more details about sites.
Hint
Access code must be entered for each controller in the site for modem or internet connection. Go to
the Acc column in the controllers section to enter the access code.

Hint
Enter IP address of the internet bridge located on the site you are connecting to.

Offline connection
The offline connection enables to view/browse previously saved archives or logs. Select the file you
want to open from the list.

• If an archive set is opened (*.ast), combined history from appropriate archives is displayed. An
archive set can be saved using InteliMonitor.
• If a log is opened (*.xls, *.csv), log window is displayed and the log can be shown also as a
chart.

IGS-LOG-3.0.pdf
Hint
If a log was not properly stopped (e.g. due to eelectricity blackout etc.), a file with extension TMP will
occur in the file list for offline connection. Use right mouse button to convert this file to XLS.

Controllers list

The controllers list window shows all active controllers in the site, their names, addresses, system
date/time and password status. Password can be also entered here and each controller can be
enabled/disabled for common history window.

Time synchronization
The column correction can be used to shift the time of history records separately for each controller to
see the common history in proper order. It is useful for the case the controllers are connected by
RS485 or are different types (Classic vs. NT line). Otherwise there is automatic time synchronisation
between controllers via CAN line, so no correction is necessary in IGS-LOG.

Recording a log

Hint
To record a log, an online connectiom must be estabilished first.

• Use Site | Logging menu item to start logging mode. The logging window will appear.
• To start/stop the logging itself, use Logging | Start or Logging | Stop menu items. The Logging
menu is visible only if the logging window is active. The log is saved automatically in the
moment of stopping it.
• When the log is running, it is possible to view it as a chart. Use Site | Chart or icon to
open charts window.

After starting a log, several parameters of the log must be entered:

Logging interval Interval between samples in the log
New file creation Time period which of each separate file the log is splitted to
Autosave interval Interval of automatic saving of the log
File name of a log is generated automatically according to date and time
File name suffix
of creation. You can put a suffix here, which will be added to eaxh file.

Browsing recorded log

To browse a recorded log, open appropriate XLS/CSV file in off-line connection mode. See the
chapter connection types for more information.

Charts
Channels
To view logged data as a chart, channels must be defined. Click to icon to open the Channels
window. Opening the window is enabled after logging is started (on-line mode) or saved log is opened
(off-line mode).
The window enables to select, edit and remove channels (columns from the log) that are displayed in
the Chart window. Channel configuration can be saved into a SHN file and used later for another
connection.

advanced settings

Controller history
Create an online connection and go to menu item Site | Common history to see the combined history
from all controllers that are enabled in the controllers list window.

• Each record in the common history window begins with the name of the controller the record
belongs to.
• If different types of controllers are used, some cells can be blank. A blank cell means the
respective history value (according the column) is not present in the controller, which the
respective record belongs to.
• To see the common history records in proper order, time of all controllers must be
synchronized. See controllers list chapter for more information.
• To see history of each controller separated, go to menu Site and select the appropiate
controller by name.

To see the history from an archive set saved by Intelimonitor, open appropriate AST file in off-line
connection mode. See the chapter connection types for more information.

Hint
It is not possible to save the AST file (archive set) using IGS-LOG. Use InteliMonitor instead.
