1 EXCHANGE01 DEPLOYMENT

1.1.1 ENABLE SERVER ROLES & FEATURES

REQUIREMENTS / NOTES
This section will add required roles and features to the OS before installing exchange
software.

A. From Server Manager, click Manage Menu near the top right > select Add Roles
and Features

B. Open an explorer window and navigate to DVD Drive D:\cots\Microsoft\Exchange


Prerequisite SW. Right click on vcredist_x64_2012 choose run as administrator

choose run as administrator

A. Navigate to D:\cots\Microsoft\Exchange\. Right click on Setup and choose run as


administrator

Check for Under the Check for Updates? Option,


Updates select Don’t check for updates right now

Click -> Next


Introduction -> Next
License Check the box for I accept the terms in the license agreement
Agreement
Click -> Next
Recommended Choose Don’t use recommended settings
Settings
Click -> Next
Server Role Check boxes for Mailbox role ; Management tools ;
Selection Automatically install Windows server roles and features …

Click -> Next

Exchange Fill in the organization name: “<DOMAIN>

Malware Disable malware scanning. Select Yes

Readiness 2 warnings show up here. That’s normal.
Checks
Click -> Install

NOTE:
This install process of the Exchange Server software can take ~40 minutes. Be
patient.

Setup Completed Click -> Finish

1.1.4 CONFIGURE EXCHANGE INTERNAL SMTP RELAY

REQUIREMENTS / NOTES
During exchange configuration, you must always login with domain administrator
credentials or else the Exchange installation will fail.

A. Configure Internal SMTP Relay.

Desktop Open a Microsoft Explorer browser window


Set up Internet Select  Don’t use recommended settings and
Explorer 11 Uncheck  Send Do Not Track requests to tell sites you
prefer not to be tracked

Click -> OK
Set up Internet At bottom of pop-up window there is a message saying “The
Explorer 11 ‘Skype for Business Browser Helper’ add-on from ‘Microsoft
Corporation’ is ready for use.”
Click the “X” on the right to not make a decision.
Internet Explorer Navigate to https://exchange01/ecp

Login with <DOMAIN>\administrator credentials


Exchange In the drop-down menu for Language select English and
welcome wizard then select the appropriate time zone.
Exchange – mail Click the plus sign + to add a connector
flow – receive
connectors
Exchange - new Enter the name internalSMTPRelay, choose role
receive connector Front End Transport and choose type Internal

Click -> Next


Exchange - new Click the - sign to delete the shown IP address range
receive connector

Exchange - new Click the + sign to add a new IP address range, enter the
receive connector network ID(s): x.x.x.x/16

Click -> save, then Click -> finish


Exchange - mail Click the internalSMTPRelay row then click the pencil

Click -> Save


Exchange – admin Click recipients on the left, then groups in the center

distribution group ∙ Display Name: Storage Admins
∙ Alias: storageadmins
∙ Next to Organizational Unit, click Browse. . . then
select Users and OK
∙ In the Members section, click the plus sign + to add
the member Administrator and OK

Click -> Save


Exchange – Click the Storage Admins row then click the pencil icon to edit
recipients - groups
Exchange – Click delivery management, then select Senders inside
Storage Admins and outside my organization

Click -> Save

B. Configure Internal DNS Lookup.

Desktop Open Internet Explorer if not already open


Internet Explorer Navigate to https://exchange01/ecp

Login with <DOMAIN>\administrator credentials


Exchange admin Click servers on the left then click the pencil icon to edit
center
Nel-exchange01 Click DNS Lookups on the left
Nel-exchange01 Click the dropdown for Internal DNS lookups and chose the
‘hostname’ NIC

Click -> Save

C. Click on the Start icon, search for Exchange Management Shell, Right click on the
search result name and select Run as administrator.

PS > Get-ReceiveConnector “internalSMTPRelay” `
