The newly updated PDF Reader Pro Edition for iPad from iTech Development Systems is a perfectly powerful and

Mode Select
This toggle at the bottom the main screen allows you to choose whether you are in
the reader or scan mode. The PDFReader mode allows you to annotate, bookmark,
organize, and email your PDFs. The Scan mode allows you to create PDFs by using
photos and screenshots that are saved on the iPad camera roll.

Bookmark

The functions of the bookmark tab are:

* Access the bookmarks for all documents in one screen


Tap the appropriate bookmark to open the document and be
taken to correct location
* Search for a specific bookmark
Type the name (or part of the name) into the search bar and
press enter - only bookmarks containing the entered informa
tion will appear
* Delete bookmarks once they are no longer needed
To remove a bookmark press Edit (located in the upper right
hand corner) this will allow you to choose which bookmarks
you would like to delete - When you are done deleting press
Done which is located where the Edit button was previously

Press the back arrow to return to the main screen

Web Search/Download

The functions of the web


search/download tab are:

* Download directly from a specific URL


Enter the URL (beginning with http://www.) that contains
that PDF that you would like to save and press Go -
PDFReader Pro will automatically download PDFs on that
page
* Search the web for a document
Enter what you would like to search for and your default
search will come up with results - from here you can find
the correct page that you are searching for - Once locat
ed, you can press the Disk on the top toolbar and save all
PDFs located on that page
* Open an email attachment in PDF Reader Pro
Hold your finger on the attachment and a box will come
up prompting you as to how you would like to open the
file. Choose PDF Reader Pro and the document will open
in the program

Press the back arrow to return to the main screen

WiFi Toggle - USB Sharing

Thge WiFi toggle enables you to connect to your wi-fi network to transfer
documents between the iPad and any computer. Simply type the IP address
(which is found at the top and bottom of the screen and is something like
192.168.1.102:5500) into any web browser to upload or download files
straight to and from your iPad.

To download from the iPad choose the document you would like to down-
load from the listing that appears in your web browser.

To upload to the iPad choose the Browse option and select the file. After lo-
cating and choosing your file press the upload option and the PDF will now
appear in your PDFReader Pro file listing.

Search

The search option can be used to help navigate through the


documents that you have loaded into the PDFReader. Type the
word, number, or symbol that you are looking for in the title in
the search bar and only documents that contain that will remain
in your list.

Settings

From the Settings page you will be able to change multiple settings which will help
to make your experience with PDFReader Pro Edition more enjoyable.

* Enable taping to move between pages


* Enable or Disable the Full Screen Mode
* Adjust the brightness for switching between Day and Night reading mode

Actions
The Actions tab contains a variety of basic functions that you will need in order to make your experience with
PDFReader Pro Edition a positive experience.

After completing each of the following actions you must hit Done which will pop up at the bottom of your screen.

Create Folder – Create folders to help organize your files (ex. Keep all files from a specific project in one folder)
* Press Actions
* Press “Create Folder”
* Enter name of new folder and press done
* Your new folder will now appear in your list

Copy – For files that you need in more than one location you can copy them into folders
* Press Actions
* Choose the file that you would like to copy
* Press Copy
* Press Done
* Choose Folder where you would like to place the file
* Press Actions
* Press Paste

Move/Cut – For files that you need to move from one location to another
* Press Actions
* Choose the file that you would like to move
* Press Move
* Press Done
* Choose Folder where you would like to place the file
* Press Actions
* Press Paste

Delete – To remove a file once you are done with it

* Choose document that you would like to remove

* Confirm that you would like to delete with popup

Email – to send a file via email


* Press Actions
* Choose document (cannot send entire folder at once)

* Enter the address and any other required information to the email (ex. Here is that file you requested.)
* Press Send

Select All – Selects all documents and files to expedite the move/copy and paste action

Deselect All – The will unselect all documents and files

Camera Roll

To open a new picture/screenshot from your camera roll and a box


will pop up displaying the photo albums on your iPad. Choose the
appropriate one and add to your scan. Be sure to add your pictures
in order because you cannot reorder them later. The box will remain
open for you to add more files until you tap somewhere else on the
screen.

To edit a picture that you have added to your scan highlight it and it
will take you to the next screen with the editing tools. Upon completion
of each edit function choose the Done button to save your changes.

Crop

To crop a picture choose the crop button from the bottom of the screen.
This will put 4 sets of black and white dots on the corners of your pic-
ture. To move these and change to content of your picture hold down
the larger of the dots until the small one matches it in size and then
you are free to move it. When you have the dots where you would like
them hit the done box on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen and
your new image will be processed.

** NOTE: The cropping feature may distort your image**

If you are not satisfied with how your image has cropped simply tap
the Scan toggle at the very bottom of the screen and you will be take
back to the list of images that were added to your scan without any
changes.

Brightness, Contrast, Black and White

To change the brightness or contrast of your image choose the correct


option and adjust the bar on the bottom toolbar.

To change the picture from Color to Black and White press the black
and white button.

If you are not satisfied with how your image has been modified simply
tap the Scan toggle at the very bottom of the screen and you will be
take back to the list of images that were added to your scan without
any changes.

Make PDF

When you are ready to take your images from the


editing phase to the PDF phase choose the Make PDF
button and a popup will appear prompting you to enter
a name for your PDF.

After entering your chosen name tap the Make option


and your PDF will now appear in your document listing
on the PDFReader Mode main screen.

Clear

Once you are done creating your scan you will need to remove the
documents from the scan listing.
This can be done in one of 2 ways:

1) swiping your finger across the document which will bring up the
iPad classic delete button (and is good if you only need to remove one
or two documents)

2) press the clear button which will remove all documents in the scan
queue.

The Pro Experience

When you open your document you


will have many different options.
You can create a bookmark, email
the file, change the display from
day to night reading, create notes,
jump to a specific page, add high-
lights, add strikeouts, print, under-
line, or place stickie notes.

Bookmarks

To add a bookmark choose the bookmark icon with the + sign in the
upper left hand corner when you are on the page that you would like
to bookmark. This will pull up a page prompting you to give your
bookmark a name. When you have entered your desired name press
done on the keyboard and you will be taken back to the previous
screen and your bookmark will be added to the listing.

To view all of the bookmarks you have created for your document
choose the bookmark icon and the bookmark heading.

Email

When you are ready to email a document choose the email icon (envelope
with an @) at the top of the screen and a new email message will be pulled
up using your default email address that you have associated with your
iPad. This email will already have the PDF attached, but you will be free to
edit the subject line and body text before sending.

Annotations
To make any sort of notes to your PDF you will want to choose the annotations icon (letter
with a pen). Within this screen your options will be to highlight, underline, strikeout, add a
note, and add a stickie. To save your annotations you must hit the back arrow to go to the full
list.

Highlight, Underline, or Strikeout – Touch the icon and then touch the text you would
like to modify. If you need to change the color or delete it tap the modified section until a
box pops up.

Note – Touch the icon and place the note where you would like it. A resizable box will
appear where you can enter your text. You can resize the note box when placing the box by
touching one of the edges and pull it to the size that suits your needs. The modifications that
you can make to your note are color and size of text, move, edit, or delete. These options
can all be reached by taping the note to bring up the popup.

Stickie Note – Touch the icon and then place the stickie note where you would like it.
You will then be able to add whatever text you would like and when you are done it will
be hidden until opened which can be done by taping the stickie note and choosing the
open option. When you tap the stickie note you will also be given the options for color, de-
lete, and move. If you change the color of the stickie note it will only change the color when
the note is open. It will still appear yellow when closed. To move the stickie note, choose the
move option and reposition your note. Once you have found a new location be sure to tap
the done moving option that has appeared at the top of the screen.

Day vs. Night

To change the screen view between day and night viewing tap the icon and your screen will
change brightness.

To adjust the severity in the brightness go to the settings screen on the main screen and you will
have this option.

Page Navigation

To navigate the pages within your document there are several options.

1) Turn pages from left to right


2) Vertical scrolling can be turned on in the Options menu
2) Use the Next Page and Previous Page icons at the top to the screen
3) Use the Jump To feature – this allows you to jump to a specific page
4) Search for a specific word and a listing will appear giving you each page in which
that word appears and will take you to it
5) Use the scroll bar on the right hand side of the document

Opening a form in PDF Reader Pro

Another feature is that you can complete PDF forms and save
them on your iPad. To complete a form open it within the pro-
gram and tap on the completable section of the form. The key-
board will appear and allow you to complete the section. When
you exit the program will automatically save all changes.

File Sharing
PDFReader Pro Edition also gives you the option to file share. When
you connect your iPad to iTunes click on the Apps tab under Devices
and scroll all the way to the bottom. From here select PDFReader Pro
from the right hand column. This will bring up all of the files that you
have on the iPad.

File Sharing - Add a File

To add a file from your computer to PDFReader Pro you will


choose the ADD button in the bottom right. This will bring up a
popup box which will allow you to locate and add PDFs to your
iPad document listing.

File Sharing - Save
To save a file from your iPad and PDFReader Pro to your com-
puter you will choose the Save To option in the lower right hand
corner. This will bring up a box to find the appropriate folder
and allow you to save the document.

Adding a file from Safari

You can also add files directly from websites on Safari. when
you open a PDF file from a website it will open and then when
you tap the page an option will come up on the upper right hand
corner to open the document in PDF REader Pro. By choosing this
option the document will save in the program and you will have
all annotation and printing capabilities.

Printing

When you are ready to print you will choose the Print icon. You
will receive a popup box that will allow you to choose what
printer you would like to print from, whether you would like to
preint the entire document, and how many copies you would like.
If you need to atler the print range you will be taken to another
page within the popup that will allow you to choose the range to
print.
