ENGINEERING DRAWING
(ME)
Time: 3 hours Max Marks: 70
PART - A
Answer all five units (5 x 14 = 70 Marks)
UNIT-I
1. (a) A point P is 30 mm and 50 mm respectively from two straight lines which are at right
angles to each other. Draw a rectangular hyperbola from P within 10 mm distance from
each line.
(b) Construct a diagonal scale of RF =1/6250 to read up to 1 kilometre and to read metres on
it. Show a length of 653 metres on it.
OR
2. (a) Draw a hyperbola when the distance between its focus and directrix is 50 mm and
eccentricity is 3/2. Also draw the tangent and normal at a point 25 mm from the directrix.
(b) Draw a vernier scale of R.F. = 1/25 to read centimetres up to 4 metres and on it, show
lengths representing 2.39 m and 0.91 m.
UNIT-II
3. (a) Draw the projections of the following points on a common reference line.
(a) P 35 mm behind the VP and 20 mm below the HP.
(b) Q 40 mm infront the VP and 30 mm above the HP.
(c) R 50 mm behind the VP and 15 mm above the HP.
(d) S 40 mm below the HP and in the VP.
(e) T 30 mm infront of the VP and 50 mm below the HP.
(b) The front view of a 7.5cm long line measures 5.5cm. The line is parallel to the HP and
one of its end is in the VP and 2.5cm above the HP. Draw the projections of the line and
determine its inclination with VP.
OR
4. (a) Two points A and B are in the H.P. The point A is 30 mm in front of the V.P., while B is
behind the V.P. The distance between their projectors is 75 mm and the line joining their
top views makes an angle of 450 with xy. Find the distance of the point B from the V.P.
(b) A line AB, 75 mm long is in the second quadrant with the end A in the H.P. and the end
B in the V.P. The line is inclined at 30 to the H.P. and at 450 to the V.P. Draw the
0
projections of AB.

UNIT-III
5. A square lamina of 40 mm side rests on one of its edges on the HP. The lamina makes an
angle of 45° to the HP and the side on which it rests makes 30° to the VP. Draw the
projections of the lamina
OR
6. A pentagon of side 30 mm rests on the ground on one of its corners with the sides
containing the corner being equally inclined to the ground. The side opposite to the
corner on which it rests is inclined at 30 0 to the VP and is parallel to the HP. The surface
of the pentagon makes 50 with the ground. Draw the top and front views of the pentagon
UNIT-IV
7. Draw the projections of a cylinder, base 30 mm diameter and axis 40 mm long, resting
with a point of its base circle on HP such that the axis is making an angle of 30 0 with HP
and its top view perpendicular to VP
OR
8. A pentagonal pyramid has its base on the HP. Base of the pyramid is 30 mm in side, axis
50 mm long. The edge of the base nearer to VP is parallel to it. A vertical section plane,
inclined at 450 to the VP, cuts the pyramid at a distance of 6 mm from the axis. Draw the
top view, sectional front view and true shape of the cut portion.
UNIT-V
9. Draw the isometric view of frustum of a hexagonal pyramid when it is resting on its base
on the HP with two sides of the base parallel to the VP. The side of base is 20 mm and
top is 8 mm. The height of the frustum is 55 m
OR
10. Draw the isometric view of the hexagonal prism with side of base 25 and axis 60 long.
The prism is resting on its base on HP with an edge of the base parallel to VP. Use the
box method.
