COURSE OUTLINE

COURSE PURPOSE

To introduce the learner to basic matrix algebra and vectors along with their applications.

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, the students will be able to:

1. Perform basic operations on matrices including reduction to echelon form


2. Solve systems of linear equations using various matrix methods
3. apply concepts of dot products and cross products of vectors in find the equations of
lines and planes in ℝ2
4. Determine whether a give set of vectors is linearly dependent or independent
5. Determine whether a given subset of a vector space is a subspace
6. Find the basis and dimension of a given vector space.
