Warranty Extension: 2015–17 Fit Keyless Start System Error with DTC

2015-17 Fit EX, EX-L, EX-L NAVI Check the iN VIN status for eligibility.

BACKGROUND

The vehicle may not start upon first press of the ENGINE START/STOP button. Also, MID displays the error message
KEYLESS START SYSTEM ERROR, and DTC B12C5 (Engine Start/Stop Switch Failure) is stored.
American Honda is extending the warranty for the keyless start system on these vehicles to 9 years from the original date
of purchase or 125,000 miles, whichever comes first.

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION

Owners of affected vehicles will be sent a notification of this warranty extension.


Do an iN VIN status inquiry to make sure the vehicle is shown as eligible.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the ENGINE START/STOP switch.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the dashboard meter visor.

2. Remove the center dashboard vent assembly.

3. Remove the glove box.

4. Disconnect the connectors and remove the dashboard center lower cover.

NOTE
Push the back of the cover from the glove box opening.

5. Remove the three audio/navigation unit mounting bolts, disconnect all harness connectors, and remove the audio/navi
unit.
NOTE
Take note of all harness connector locations before disconnecting the harnesses.

6. Remove the driver’s side cover.

7. Remove the driver’s dashboard lower cover.

8. Remove the passenger’s dashboard pad.

9. Remove the air mix control cable, mode control cable, and recirculation control cable.
NOTE
Before removing the cables set air mix control to max cool, mode control to vent, and recirculation control to
recirculate.

10. Remove the heater control panel, and disconnect the harness connectors.
NOTE
Be careful not to break the clips and mounting tabs when removing the panel.

11. Remove the ENGINE START/STOP switch assembly.

12. Install the new ENGINE START/STOP switch assembly.


13. Reinstall all removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
14. Clear all DTCs using the i-HDS.
15. Confirm that the engine start stop switch works.
