To the Learner

Good day my dear learners! Here we are again ready to do

mental math on division without remainder.

Pretest

Fill in the box with the correct number.

1. 36 ÷ 6=n 2. 24 ÷ 4=n 3. 55 ÷ 5=n

30 + 6= 20 + 4= 50 + 5=

30 ÷ 6= 20 ÷ 4= 50 ÷ 5=

6 ÷ 6= 4 ÷ 4= 5 ÷ 5=

5 + 1= 5 + 1= 10 + 1=

4. 9 √54 = 18 + 36 = 5. Divide mentally,

18 + 9 =
36 + 9= 3 √99

Let’s Recall

1. 9 X 5 = 3. 6 X 7 = 5. 16 + 2 =
2. 4 X 8 = 4. 28 ÷ 3 = 6. 70 ÷ 7 =

1
Let’s Study

A Farmer harvested 54 cans of corn. He placed them in

cellophanes equally. If they were bundled into 6’s, how many bundles
of cellophanes are there?

Divide mentally to find the answer.

54 ÷ 6 = n
6 x n = 54
6 x 9 = 54

Write

So, 54 ÷ 6 = 9

Answer: There are 9 bundles of

cellophane in all.

Let’s Move On

You can also divide mentally by:

2
 Using Patterns.

5 ÷ 5 = 1 8 ÷ 2 = 4 9 ÷ 1=9

50 ÷ 5 = 10 80 ÷ 2 = 40 90 ÷ 10 = 9

 Finding the missing factors.

54 = 6 x 9 77 = 7 x 11 24 = 4 x 6

54 ÷ 6 = 9 77 ÷ 7 = 11 24 ÷ 4 = 6

54 ÷ 9 = 6 77 ÷ 11 = 7 24 ÷ 6 = 4

 Expanded Notation

48 ÷ 4 = n

40 ÷ 4 = 10

8 + 4 = 2

48 ÷ 4 = 12

 Finding the multiple of the given factor.

48 = 20 + 28

20 and 28 are multiples of 4.

20 ÷ 4 = 5

28 ÷ 4 = 7

5 + 7 = 12 Answer

3
Let’s Try

See
a. 34 ÷ 2 = n

Think:
34 = 30 + 4

30 ÷ 2 = 0 write: 34 ÷ 2 = 17

4 ÷ 2 = 0

See
b. 36 ÷ 4 = n

Think:
35 = 20 + 4

20 ÷ 4 = 0 write: 36 ÷ 4 = 9

16 ÷ 4 = 0

See
c. 45 ÷ 5 = n

Think:
40 + 5 = n

40 ÷ 5 = ____

5 ÷ 5 = ____

__ ÷ __ = ____

4
See See
d. 99 ÷ 9 = n e. 10 ÷ 5 = n

Think: Think:

____ = 90 + 9 _____ = 5 + 5

90 ÷ 9 = ____ 5 ÷ 5 = ____

9 ÷ 9 = ____ 5 ÷ 5 = ____

__ + __ = ____ __ + __ = ____

Remember

To divide 2 – digit numbers by 1 – digit numbers without

remainder mentally, rename the dividend as a sum of two numbers
divisible by the divisor. Then, divide both numbers by the divisor and
add the quotients.

Do This

Divide Mentally.

1. 27 ÷ 3 = n 2. 18 ÷ 6 = n

27 = 24 + 3 18 = 12 + 6

24 + 3 = ____ 12 ÷ 6 = ____

3 ÷ 3 = ____ 6 ÷ 6 = ____

___ + ___ = ____ __ + __ = ____

5
3. 80 ÷ 4 = n 4. 72 ÷ 9 = n

80 = 60 + 20 72 = 54 + 18

60 ÷ 4 = ____ 54 ÷ 9 = ____

20 ÷ 4 = ____ 18 ÷ 9 = ____

___ + ___ = ____ ___ + ___ = ____

5. Rename the dividends and divide.

66 ÷ 6 =

6. 35 pieces of bananas.

5 bananas in a “supot”.

How many “supots” ?

Post - test

Fill in the blank with the correct answer.

1. 15 ÷ 3 = n 2. 30 + 6 = n

12 + 3 24 + 6

12 + 3 = ____ 24 ÷ 6 = ____

__ ÷ 3 = 1 6 ÷ 6 = ____

__ + __ = 5 __ + __ = ____

6
Rename the dividend and divide.

3. 55 ÷ 5 = n 4. 12 ÷ 2 = n

10 + 2

10 ÷ 2 = 5

2 ÷ 2 = 1

5 + 1 = 6

5. 54 “sumans”.

9 “sumans” on each plates.

How many plates of “sumans” are there ?
