APPROVED CLASSES FOR THE BASIC SKILLS REQUIREMENT

This is a list of classes from Stanislaus State and local community colleges that can be used for the Basic Skills
Requirement. Please note that this may not be a complete list. Classes not included on this list, or classes from
other colleges, may still be accepted, provided they meet the criteria for approval listed below. Please contact
[email protected] for advising on applicable coursework.

CRITERA FOR APPROVAL:


• Must be worth 3 or more semester units (or equivalent quarter units)
• Must be degree applicable (no remedial coursework accepted)
• Must have a grade of B- or higher (or “CR” if taken as credit/no credit)
• READING can be fulfilled by course in critical thinking, literature, philosophy, reading, rhetoric, or textual analysis.
• MATH can be fulfilled by a course in algebra, geometry, mathematics, quantitative reasoning, or statistics.
• WRITING can be fulfilled by a course in composition, English, rhetoric, written communication, or writing.
