Part 2:

A-Describe how international business has affected the

students in their day so far.
( Ask them about who made the clothes they are wearing, what
type of food they ate for breakfast or lunch "muesli cereal,
sushi, Italian-style coffee", what type of cell phone they have
and where it was made, where their car was designed and
manufactured, where the components for their computer were
manufactured, and so on. )
Answer :
Firms around the world create global market by offering same product
worldwide and falling the trade barriers. As noticed in the last fifty years
countries made a commitment to lower barriers to trade and
investment, average tariffs have fallen significantly or by opening markets
outside by FDIs.
Furthermore, technological changes has made the globalization of markets
a reality by lowering the cost of transportation, communication and
information processing this allow firms to disperse the production in
geographically separated locations, As a result the world becomes like a
single country.
If we think about our day , the activities we practice along it and the stuff
we deal with and try to calculate the ratio between international vs
national or local things …we will find out that most of them may be
international as a whole or even its components like computers as it’s no
longer meaningful to talk about German or American market but it’s said
as “global market”and this is because many reasons may be
•specialization as each country specializes for what they can do and trade
for other goods so all countries will benefit.
•people search for the higher quality for the lower prices .
•another reason may be the obsession of buying international stuff
because of social considerations or psychological comfort getting used to
them.
For example we may eat for some day an Egyptian breakfast like fava
beans or falafel but on other days we take cereals or French toast and
taking sushi or Italian pizza or Chinese sweet and sour noodles with
chopsticks for lunch then taking Turkish coffee or espresso or Italian
style coffee.
Moreover some people used to wear clothes from international brands
like “Gucci” “Dolce &Gabanna” “Michael Kors” “Calvin Klein”…
etc. ,To the extent of using high end brands for watches, makeup
&perfumes. Also if we think who of us can live without a cell phone in
his hand ? Is there any Wholly manufactured Egyptian cell phone or A
wholly manufactured car to drive ?the answer will be “No”. It’s shocking
but it’s true.

B- Next, ask students the why aspect of this issue: Why,

for example, are so many of our clothes made outside
Egypt ?

Answer:
we can conclude that experts in the textile industry in Egypt confirmed

that the endeavor of local manufacturers to prepare and develop innovative

designs of their own seems unattainable, at least in the foreseeable future,

noting that local companies operating in the ready-made garment industry still

import their designs from abroad, especially from France and Italy, which are

distinguished by their designs, they pointed out that the local market still needs

a very long period,s, to become a center for exporting its designs abroad,

especially since companies operating in the local market facilitate the import of

external designs, provided that they establish research units to innovate them

and then export them after manufacturing them locally.

 Egyptian companies do not export ready-made clothes with designs of their

own production, but rather by importing the latest designs in different

fabrics, colors and combinations before implementing them.

 The centers and exhibitions established in the largest international fashion

houses abroad, which are concentrated in Milan and France, are spending

huge sums on them at levels that the Egyptian industry cannot afford. The

local ready-made garment industry needs to completely redevelop the

system of the textile industry and the designs associated with it, represented
in the necessity of paying attention to the educational process to create

cadres that can compete in this field, in addition to the need to focus on

developing research related to it by providing a financing mechanism

capable of advancing that industry as well It occurs in major countries

working in the production of spinning and weaving.

 The majority of companies working in this field are only interested in

exporting and marketing their products abroad, without caring about

creating new designs that help develop their products and increase their

sales.

 Egypt's lack of expertise working in the field of ready-made clothing

designs indicates that there is no link between education and the labor

market, despite the presence of many educational institutions interested in

graduating batches working in the field of creating these designs, including,

for example, the College of Fine Arts and Applied Arts, as the ready-made

clothing design industry is a talent that refines Education, qualification and

experience.

 Clothing companies may have self-sufficiency to meet the needs of the

internal market, but this does not apply to their designs directed at the

foreign market, which requires more designs that keep pace with global

developments.

Furthermore,Some stages of the textile industry in Egypt are exposed to fierce

competition from the Chinese market. Some companies seeking to confront

that competition may resort to manufacturing some stages of production, such

as processed fabric, which is subjected to some chemical modifications, and is

sold in Egypt at a cheaper price than its Egyptian counterpart, as it gives the

same texture of the material.
