III. PROCEDURE
A. Preparation
1. Daily Routine
1.1 Opening Prayer
1.2 Greetings
1.3 Checking of Attendance
2. Review of the Past Lesson
Good morning, class. Today, we will tackle a new lesson in Quarter 4, and it will be more
exciting for you. This lesson will help you how to create an Ethernet Cable (also known as LAN
cable) which is a Straight-Through and Cross-over Ethernet Cable. It also tackles the materials
required, the color arrangement of the wires, and the step-by-step techniques of how to make them.

B. Presentation
1. Motivation
Let’s start the day with a motivational classroom activity.
4 Pics 1 Word. Guess a word from four pictures to be presented.
2. Raised Up Question
Ask a learner what they expect to learn about the lesson.
3. Technical Terms
 Network cables are used to connect and transfer data and information between
computers, routers, switches, and other devices.
 Network Cabling is a system through which information is transported usually from one
device to another, within a specific environment.
 Computer Network are collections of computers, software and hardware that are all
connected to help their users work together.
 UTP Cable stands for Unshielded Twisted Pair. These are commonly used as telephone
wired and Ethernet cables in telephone connections and LAN.
 RJ45 (Registered Jack 45) is a type of connector commonly used for Ethernet
networking.
 Crimping Tool is used to join wires by pressing them together or crimp.
 Cable Tester - a device that is used to test the strength and connectivity of a cable.
 Straight-through Cable is used to connect heterogeneous devices.
 Cross-over Cable is used for the interconnection of two similar devices.
4. Lesson Proper (Discussion Method using Presentation through CANVA platform and
Demonstration)
4.1 Network Cabling is a system through which information is transported usually from one device
to another, within a specific environment.
4.2 Straight-Through Cable provides a connection that only allows one end to communicate at any
given moment. These cables are the most common. They are best when connecting two different
types of networking equipment. For instance, they are appropriate for connecting a computer to
a switch, router or printer.

4.3 Cross-Over Cable is used to connect two computers or similar devices directly together, such as
computers or hubs.

4.4 Materials and Tools used in LAN Cabling

Things you’ll need.
a. Crimping Tool
b. UTP Cable
c. RJ45 Connector
d. Cable Tester
4.5 Safety Precautions
a. Be vigilant
b. Use the proper tools
c. Avoid playing
d. Follow standard steps and procedures
4.6 Steps in LAN Cabling
1. Unroll the required length of the network cable.
2. Carefully remove the outer jacket of the cable.
3. Inspect the newly revealed wires for any cuts or scrapes that expose the copper wire inside.
4. Untwist the pairs so they will lay flat between your fingers.
5. Arrange the wires based on the wiring specifications you are following.
6. Press all the wires flat and parallel between your thumb and forefinger.
7. Keep the wires flat and in order as you push them into the RJ45 plug with the flat surface of
the plug on top.
8. Place the wired plug into the crimping tool.
9. Repeat all of the above steps with the other end of the cable.
10. Test the cable to ensure that it will function in the field.
11. Plug your Ethernet cable in.
Ask: How do we share offline/online files from one computer to another computer?
5. Application
Direction: The learners will create a Straight-Through cable following the steps. Crimping a LAN
Cable for 30 minutes.
Rubrics:
Proper Crimping - 30%
Color Arrangement - 30%
Functionality - 40%

TOTAL - 100 %
6. Generalization
Network cables provide communication between several devices (computers, routers, switches).
It connects and transfers data and other information between network devices. The primary purpose
of network devices is to transmit and receive data quickly and securely.
For LAN cabling you will need a crimping tool, UTP cable, RJ45 connector, wire stripper, and
cable tester. There are two types of network cable which is a straight-thru cable and a cross-over
cable.
IV. EVALUATION (Cognitive 20%)
A. Enumeration
 Four (4) Materials needed to create network cabling
 Two (2) wiring standards for RJ45
 Two (2) types of most commonly used network cable
 The Eight (8) color arrangement of T568B in order.
B. Identification
1. This cable is used to connect two computers or similar devices directly together.
2. It is used to join wires by pressing them together.
3. These are used to connect and transfer data and information between computers, routers, switches and
other devices.
4. They are best when connecting two different types of networking equipment.

V. AGREEMENT/ ASSIGNMENT
A. Follow-Up Assignment
o Memorize the steps on how to make a network cable.
B. Advanced Assignment
1. What is a computer network?
2. What are computer network devices?
3. What are the types of computer networks?
4. What is network topology?
5. What are the types of network topologies?
