Objective:
Analyze historical sales data to derive insights on sales performance, product popularity, and seasonal
trends using pivot tables and graphs.
Data Provided:
A spreadsheet containing the following columns:
1. Date - The date of the transaction
2. Product_ID - Unique identifier for each product
3. Product_Name - Name of the product
4. Category - Category of the product
5. Quantity - Quantity sold
6. Unit_Price - Price per unit
7. Total_Sales - Total sales (Quantity * Unit_Price)
8. Region - Region where the sale was made
9. Sales_Representative - Name of the sales representative
Tasks:
1. Create a Pivot Table to Summarize Total Sales by Product:
Summarize the total sales for each product.
Include the average unit price per product.
Sort the products by total sales in descending order.
2. Create a Pivot Table to Analyze Seasonal Trends:
Aggregate the sales data by month.
Summarize the total sales and total quantity sold by month.
Identify which month had the highest sales.
3. Sales Performance by Region:
Create a pivot table to analyze total sales by region.
Include a count of different products sold in each region.
4. Graphical Representations:
Create a bar graph to represent total sales per product from Task 1.
Create a line graph to show the monthly sales trends from Task 2.
Create a pie chart to display the proportion of total sales by region from Task 3.
5. Sales Representative Performance Analysis:
Use a pivot table to analyze each sales representative’s performance in terms of total
sales.
Rank the sales representatives in each region by total sales.
Questions for Analysis:
Which product is the bestseller?
What is the trend in sales over the months? Are there any noticeable peaks or troughs?
Which region contributes the most to total sales?
Who is the top-performing sales representative?
Submission Format:
Complete the pivot tables and graphs as directed.
Write a one-page analysis summarizing the insights derived from the pivot tables and graphs.
