Kwik-Lok Wear Protection
®

The original Kwik-Lok wear protection is a semi-mechanical system that utilizes a

weld-on stop block to hold the runner in place.
• ESCO Alloy 12S runners can last up to five
times longer than plate steel
• ESCO Alloy 35S runners are
available in select sizes for
even longer wear life in low
impact applications
• Runners are ready to use as
delivered – no material prep or
special handling required
• Longer wear life and less
maintenance increases machine uptime

Hot Slag
Semi-mechanical Kwik-Lok runners are ideally suited for fighting
abrasion in hot slag. The weld-on stop block eliminates the use
of rubber, while offering the benefits of ESCO alloy 12S wear
protection.

Underwater Dredge
The reliability of Kwik-Lok system is an excellent match for underwater
applications. The superior retention of runners is ideal where
components are not always visible to the machine operator.

Processing Plants
Kwik-Lok wear protection is ideally suited for applications where gravity
holds the runner on the base. Since there is no reverse load trying to push
the runner off the base, the system can be operated without the stop block
installed.

Bimetallic CWI Wear Protection
A chrome white iron (CWI) casting with a minimum hardness of 700 BHN is
bonded to a slotted mild steel backing plate. Standard welding tools and
materials allow a quick, secure solution to problem wear areas. Recommended
applications include protection for dragline, shovel, loader, and excavator
buckets, conveyor chute liners, quarry and mining grizzly screens, and
gyratory and jaw crusher liners.
Wear Bars
Wear bars can be used to form a mosaic of wear protection to counter
highly abrasive applications. The flexibility of
the backing plate allows the bar to conform
to slightly convex or concave applications.

Wear Buttons
A circular shape button provides maximum
protection and security, while
minimizing the effects of heavy
impact.

Chromium Carbide Overlay Plate

ESCO’s Chromium Carbide Overlay wear protection is ideal in

ESCO Steel Dozer and Loader Plate Liners
ESCO steel plate liner kits are precision designed and manufactured out of top
quality materials to offer optimum equipment protection and to minimize the
time and effort required for installation.
Standard kits are available for many popular machines. For non-standard
machines, custom liner kit quotations are available upon request.

Custom Wear Liners

ESCO fabricates custom liner packages to customer specifications with
a selection of package styles to address specific wear needs. All liners
are made from ESCOALLOY™ 400 or 500 wear plate.

Tumble Bar style liners cause material to

tumble instead of slide, which reduces wear
during material discharge.

Flat / Formed liners are ideal for

extreme abrasion and high impact
applications.

Waffle Style liners are typically 40% lighter

than solid plate liners with minimal change
in wear life. Waffle style liners are not
recommended for sticky applications,
clay for example, which may substantially
increase the amount of carry back.
These liner styles are available for dragline buckets,

ESCO Overlay Technology
ESCO applies a wide variety of overlay materials to metal components to
increase wear life and improve productivity. For best performance, the way the
overlay material is applied is based on the specific field application.
Overlay material can be simply applied to component surfaces to protect them
from abrasive wear, or applied in a specific pattern that not only increases wear
life, but also improves the performance as the product wears. For example, overlay
material applied to mining bucket teeth in a certain way dictates a wear pattern that
improves penetration and loading, and thereby increases productivity for reduced
operation costs. In addition, for certain applications, ESCO designs components
specifically for best use of overlay material.
Chrome White Iron Overlay
ESCO Chrome White Iron Overlay material consists of microscopic chromium rich
carbides embedded in an iron-base matrix. Overlay of this type is used with the required
base metal and design to increase wear performance in low impact applications –
typically those involving digging in dirt or sand and well-shot rock with up to 2" in
diameter, with minimal history of product breakage.
Embedded Tungsten Carbide Overlay
ESCO Embedded Tungsten Carbide consists of macroscopic pieces of tungsten
carbide material dispersed in a tough steel matrix. The material is applied with the
optimum base metal to withstand medium to heavy impact. Such impact applications
typically involve digging in shot rock over 2" in diameter, with some history of product
breakage.
Tungsten Carbide/Nickel PTA Overlay
ESCO uses state-of-the-art Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) welding equipment to apply
overlays of fine tungsten carbide particles dispersed in a nickel alloy matrix. In many
applications, this type of overlay provides abrasion resistance unobtainable with any
other type of overlay. It is used on metal parts for a broad range of industries and
applications, including equipment for mining, construction, crushing, rolling, road
building and tunneling. This type of overlay is suitable for low to medium impact
applications.
High Alloy/Ultra-Fine Hard Particle Overlay
This type of overlay consists of microscopic alloy carbides and other hard
particles dispersed within an iron-base matrix. It offers extreme abrasion
resistance exceeding that of chrome white irons and approaching that of
tungsten carbide/nickel alloy PTA overlays. Overlay of this type is suitable for
low-to-medium impact applications.
ESCO Overlay Benefits
• Increased wear life for minimal downtime
• Minimize the need for part replacement for lower maintenance costs
• Improved machine performance for increased productivity
• Increases the overall operating life of major equipment
investments
