Course Objectives  This course aims are to develop the skills needed for
documenting designs using drawings and for performing
graphical analysis of two dimensional and three-dimensional
problems.
Competency to be acquired At the end of the course the student is able to:
 Developing the skills needed for documenting designs using
drawings and for performing graphical analysis of drafting,
sketching and descriptive geometry.
 Ability to communicate ideas through freehand sketching and
or by the use of drawing instruments.
 Ability to visualize 3-dimentional objects on a 2-dimentional
plane.
 Ability to master the basic principles of drafting from simple to
complex objects.
 Apply the alphabet of lines in every line work in the laboratory
workshop.
 Ability to apply every learned knowledge into a new concept
when there is problem to be solved.
 Ability to master the principles of projections from a simple
orthographic into elevation projections and sectioning
problems.
 Ability to draw accurately the floor plan according to the given
scale.
 Ability to assemble the stretch-out pattern from 2-dimensional
into 3D object with accuracy.
 Ability to synthesize learned concepts to create solutions to a
given problem.
Course Contents The course has 3 components:
 Drafting: - drafting conventions, drafting equipment ‘s,
geometrical constructions, lettering, scales, principles of
projections, drafting of a house.
 Sketching: - introduction to sketching and sketching media,
sketching simple geometrical objects, plants, simple
compositions.
 Descriptive Geometry: - principles of projection, projection
line, planes, solids, auxiliary projections, orthographic
projections, intersection of lines planes, solids and development
of surfaces.
