    The causatives are the verbs that are used to indicate that one person

    causes another person to do something for the first person. One can cause
    somebody to do something for him/her by asking, paying, requesting, or
    forcing the person.

    Remember that MAKE, HAVE AND GET can be used as causatives.


    In a causative a person does not perform an action directly.

    Causative MAKE
    Remember that MAKE can be used when the person causes it to
    happen by forcing another person to do it.

    S MAKE someone Verb word


    His mother made him take his medicine

    S MAKE something Verb word


    I made the machine work

    Avoid using an infinitive or an –ing instead of a verb Word after a


    person or thing in a causative with MAKE.

    Causative HAVE
    Remember that HAVE has even less force and authority than GET.

    Note: According to the grammar rules and structures, there are two more
    similar verbs that are not causative verbs by definition but they constitute
    similar sentence structures.

    With LET a person gives permission for another person to do something.
