    CATCH-UP FRIDAYS TEACHING GUIDE

    II. Session Details
    Session Title: Drug Scenario in the Philippines
    Session At the end of the session,
    Objective/s: Learners will be able to:
    - define substance use
    - describe the drug scenario in the Philippines
    - conduct a survey in school or in the community about its
    present drug scenario.
    Key Concepts: Factors Influencing Substance use in the Philippines
    III. Facilitation Strategies

    Components Duration Activities and Procedures


    The teacher will let the students watch a news about a
    drug case and afterwards ask some questions based on
    the video.
    1. When and where did the person caught carrying
    Introduction and
    5 minutes drugs?
    Warm-Up
    2. What type of drugs were they caught?
    3. How did law enforcement discover their drug use?
    4. What are the potential legal consequences the
    person may face for being caught with drugs?
    The teacher will give students some headlines in the
    newspaper or electronic news about drug related
    crimes in the Philippines. Have buzz session with
    the class about the present drug scenario in the
    Concept 20 country.
    Exploration minutes Guided Questions:
    1. What is the Dangerous Drugs Board report all
    about? What is your personal opinion?
    2. What is the current drug scenario you know in
    your community or in your Town?
    Activity: The teacher will group the class into 3 and let
    30 the students conduct an interview about the present
    Valuing/Wrap-up
    minutes drug cases in school (Teacher, SSG President, Guidance
    Coordinator). Presentation of the said activity will follow.
    Students by (2) group will do the activity:
    Reflective  create a box of information which includes all
    5 minutes
    Journaling information who have learned, gathered and
    processed in a strip of paper.
