Brief Technical Procedure for Students

Join Classroom Integrated with Canvas and Zoom

Blended class will have online meeting tuition using Zoom. Students also get access to the Learning
Management System (LMS) IALF Canvas where all the material is kept and as a communication port
between Teacher and Student. There is checklist that students need to note before entering the
Online Meeting Class.

1. Immediately, when receiving the email about Course Invitation (the Invitation to Join the
Course) from Canvas, click Get Started.
Open with Chrome or Firefox Browser using PC or Laptop (NOT IE, Safari).
Entry Password and select Time zone (WIB - Jakarta +07:00 or WITA - Singapore +08:00 or WIT - Seoul +09:00).
Select Create a new Account (for the 1st time using IALF Canvas) or
enter Email and Password, click Login (for the existing user).
Click Accept the invitation (on the top left of the Dashboard page) after successfully login.

2. Make sure that 15 minutes before the Online Meeting, open the LMS page at
https://ialf.instructure.com on browser. Login to your account.

3. Open the course appearing on Dashboard.

4. The teacher will send an email about the Zoom Meeting schedule and a Join URL link to the
Online Meeting Course.

Teacher might send revised emails. If this happens, please follow the link in the newest
email or follow the Join button in Zoom menu inside the Course.

Select your current Time Zone by click pencil icon below Zoom title.

Wait until the Host starts the meeting and accepts your entrance.
5. Students also get the Meeting link in the Menu Calendar, which also appears on To Do
Sections at the right side of the Dashboard.

6. Click the link Click here to Join Meeting:XXXXXXXX that appears in the popup box.

7. Students need to allow running pop-ups blocker at the browser if facing a blank page with
small red cross icon at the right side of the web address box.

Click the red cross icon or the test Pop-up blocked when it suddenly appears.
Select Always allow pop-ups and redirect from https://ialf.instructure.com. Click Done.
8. When the online meeting schedule has ended, students can still access the previous and
ongoing course at the Courses menu. Click All Courses, then click the previous course below
Past Enrollments section.

9. Use Help menu to Ask Your Instructor a Question (Course Teacher), for example if you get
any error message in LMS content or just to ask about the lesson.

10. Students may also install on smartphone the Canvas for Student App available in AppStore
and Play Store.
Once successfully installed, open the App, click Find my school IALF(Student).
Login to the account that has been created through web browser.
This App will give push notifications in your smartphone. These notifications are very helpful
as reminder when the date, time, and other activities in the course begin.
