WARNINGS
The AEL (ACCESSIBLE EMMISSION LEVEL) of the laser power output is less than class 1 but the laser component is capable
of emitting radiation exceeding the limit for class 1. Therefore it is important that the following precautions are observer during
servicing to protect your eyes against exposure to the laser beam.
1) When the unit case cover is removed and LOADING SW (SW 1956) is turned on and then PLAY SW (SW 1954 mechanism
PWB) is turned on in a few second.
The laser will light for several second to detect a disk.
2) The laser power output of the pickup unit and replacement service parts are all factory pre-set before shipment.
Do not attempt to re-adjust the laser pick-up unit during replacement or servicing.
3) Under no circumstances stare into the pickup lens at any time.
4) If laser optical unit becomes faulty, replace the complete laser optical unit.
5) CAUTION-USE of controls or adjustments, or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may result in
hazardous radiation exposure.
Caution:
Use the MD studio only in accordance with the instructions
given in this manual and do not attempt to interfere with the LASER KLASSE 1
interlock switch or make any other adjustment as this may LUOKAN 1 LASERLAITE
result in exposure to hazardous radiation. KLASS 1 LASERAPPARAT

*1: Taking 1/2Vcc as a reference DC level, make an adjustment to get vertical symmetry of waveform (Figure 19-1) with respect
to the reference DC level.
(Amplitude 0.5 to 1.5 Vp-p) (As the optical pickup has been adjusted before shipping, adjustment is required only when
adjustment disturbance is found.)
*2: Input oscillation frequency 1.5 kHz, 300 mVrms
*3: Make an adjustment so that the error waveform is minimized (Figure 19-3), noise (track jump sound) ceases during audio output
monitoring and clear playback is ensured.
*4: The proper measurement range of oscilloscope is 50 mV, 0.5 ms.
Connect the trigger to the pin 39 (HFD) of IC750, apply coupling on DC (-) slope, and observe waveform in the normal trigger
mode.
*5: Make an adjustment so that the error waveform becomes uniform and is minimized (Figure 19-3), noise (track jump sound)
ceases during audio output monitoring, clear playback is ensured and sound skip and pause state do not occur.
*6: The proper measurement range of oscilloscope is 0.1V, 0.5 ms. The trigger is the same as stated in the note*4 above.
Reference: If the error waveform contains significant noise and is not clear, observe the waveform, using the low-pass filter (Figure

TROUBLE SHOOTING (CD SECTION)
CD fails to operate
If the objective lens of optical pickup is contaminated, CD may fail to operate. At first clean the objective lens, and check playback
operation. If CD does not operate persistently, check as follows.
If dust or foreign substance is accumulated on the pickup lens, playback is disturbed and TOC (content of item) is not displayed.
Before adjusting check whether the lens is clean. If the lens is contaminated, treat it as follows.
Turn off power supply, impregnate the lens cleaning paper with a small quantity of isopropyl alcohol, and gently wipe the lens with
it with due care so that the lens is not damaged.
At this time do not contact directly the lens with our finger.
Set disc, turn on power supply, press the CD (stop) button, and check voltage of BI851/CNS552A/B.

TROUBLE SHOOTING (MD SECTION)
When MD fails to operate
If the objective lens of optical pickup is contaminated, MD may fail to operate. At first, clean the objective lens to check playback
operation. If MD fails persistently to operate, perform checks as follows.
If dust or foreign substance is accumulated on the pickup lens, playback is disturbed and indication of TOC (content of tracks) may
be disabled. Before adjusting check that the lens is clean. If the lens is contaminated, treat it as follows.
Turn off power supply, impregnate the lens cleaning paper with a small quantity of isopropyl alcohol, and gently wipe the lens with
it with due care so that the lens is not damaged. At this time do not touch the lens directly with your finger.
Is power turned on in the MD position when the remote Check as stated in item "MD power cannot be turned on".
