one is close by, and two others are in the eastern part of
Leipzig. You will have your single bedroom, which contains
a bed, chair, desk and a cupboard. The kitchen and
bathrooms are shared rooms and fully equipped. All the flats
have a washing machine and some of the flats even have a
shared living room/common area. We also provide pillows
and blankets. There are bedsheets available, but you can of

you discounts at various places in the city, e.g. museums or a cheaper Deutschlandticket. We will

ARRIVAL
For arriving in Leipzig, you will book your journey to Leipzig and back home in consultation with us.
We have a certain budget for the travel costs, so make sure that you don't exceed the budget. The
budget depends on the distance from Leipzig to your home place. Let us know if you need any
assistance with your travel planning. Once you give the ORIGINAL tickets (and if you fly, the original
boarding pass) to us, we will refund you for the travel costs.

If you have different options to get to Leipzig, we expect our volunteers to choose the most ecological
one. So please avoid flying, if possible! Especially if you come from a neighboring country, make
sure that you use the train or bus instead of the plane.

Please let us also know your exact time of arrival, so that we can arrange a pickup at the station for
your arrival.

You will attend two seminars during your ESC. We will book the tickets to the seminars for you or
give you instructions on how to buy them. Never buy tickets without our confirmation.

INSURANCE
Henner will be your primary insurance. It is important that you let us know in advance if you have
another health insurance.
SUPPORT AND SOCIAL LIFE
We know that being far from home and in an entirely new surrounding can be challenging. Therefore,
we will try to support you in the best way during that time. We will have monthly meetings with all
the volunteers, where we will talk about your experiences and try to find improvement options, if
necessary. And our office is of course always open for you to stop by if you need anything. Within
your project, you will also have a mentor that will be responsible for you to make sure that your
voluntary service is going well for you as well as for the project.

During your year in Leipzig, you will also participate in two seminars that are organized by the
program. Those seminars will provide you information on the ESC, check if everything is going well,
help you to get to know volunteers in other places of Germany.

There will also be two project days on changing topics together with all the volunteers. Our last day
was on the topic “solidarity” and apart from learning a lot also heaps of fun. Furthermore, we will
have different social events, for example a welcoming evening or winter and summer parties. Within
the socio-cultural center, there are also a lot of events happening where you can participate, like the
language evening or the open stage.

CITY
Leipzig is a very livable city with a lot of history, cultural events and parks. The city is mainly
partioned into two parts, the east and the west. In the center of Leipzig, you will find a historic city
center, a lot of parks and green spaces, and of course the socio-cultural center VILLA itself ;). Within
the city there is a lot going on: museums, art exhibitions, concerts and parties, markets and flea
markets.

Summer is the season where the city is very alive and a lot going on. People hang out in the parks
or at the lakes close to the city, do watersports like canoeing, or just hang out with friends in front of
a „Späti“.

In Winter, people are a lot more indoors, as it can get quite cold. You can visit some of the nice
christmas markets, go ice skating or if we are lucky to get some snow, also built a snowman.

ESC @ 2 Different Montessori Kindergardens (2 Volunteers)
We offer 2 places in Montessori kindergarten:

In Montessori kindergarten you will work in a team consisting of 10 teachers and social workers who
deal with around 80 kids in pre-school age (between 2 and 6 years old). The thoughts and visions
of Maria Montessori are the centre of the educational conviction, mainly in reference to the idea of
the child, the role of the teacher and the view on the world surrounding the child. In the kindergarten
there are many children with migration background, and we have been working with Spanish natives
for ten years. As an integrational Kindergarden, we also deal with kids with physical and psychical
disadvantages. We see differences, not important if visible or not, as an enrichment of our
cohabitation.

For both places we looking forward to welcome a European volunteer who give us new impulses,
and we made many positive experiences in the past. We are interested in cultural exchange, many
influences and elements from individual people to give the children a real impression of our varied
world.

Tasks
The volunteer supports the workers in their daily routines with the kids and shall set up own small
or bigger projects in the kindergarten. He/she will get to know the pedagogic concept in praxis. The
volunteer will focus on the elder groups (4–6 years old). He/She will organize celebrations, get to
know and co-arrange the work with the kids and parents, and participate in important processes like
preparing older kids for school. He/she shall actively enter aspects of his/her own culture into the
daily life with the kids and create special projects around this.

Selection criteria

and communicative behavior, ability to work in different groups, and creativity. Basic German
knowledge is a plus.

and immigrants. There are many social projects for the inhabitants of the district. Those projects are
done with the purpose of creating a life worth living for all inhabitants. The OFT Rabet is an open
youth meeting point where young people & kids design their leisure time supported by the staff.
Apart from games, sports and music, job orientation and learning to lead a self-sustained life are
important topics of the work with the youths.

Tasks
The volunteer supports the youths and the staff designing and carrying through leisure activities on
a daily basis as well as special projects which have a longer duration. The volunteer shall bring
aspects of his or her own country into the work, e.g. music, games, sports, language, cooking or
handicraft. Usually we start working at 13:00 pm but because of a big variety of networking and
project work in the district, there are some appointments in the morning. At 19:45 pm, we say
goodbye to all our guests and users and sum up the day's work. We discuss our schedule once in
a week, different projects take place at the weekend.

ESC @ Nasch - Nachbarschaftsschule (After School Care)

The "NaSch family" is non-profit organization for the after school care center and nursery. Since
the beginning of 1999, the community of the neighborhood school has been in free ownership of
the initiative "Nachbarschaftsschule Leipzig eV". The idea of a kindergarten was developed in
2002 with the decision of the association to take over Odermann houses and expand it for the
after school care center.

Teachers and parents founded the Neighborhood School (NaSch) with the idea of creating a
school, which opens up inside and outside. We support the individual strengths and talents of the
kids as possible. To realize this, we use approved reform-educational forms of organization and
methods. Within the educational and educational mission, it is particularly important for us to
develop values and to live them - values such as the joy of learning, democracy and conflict
management, freedom from violence and a willingness to take responsibility for themselves and
others. The NaSch community sees itself as a part and model of a democratic society. Our school
is a place of social learning, firmly anchored in the Leipzig district of Lindenau. School, nursery,
after school care center and neighborhood are partners who work together transparently and for
mutual benefit. The ESC volunteers will not work in the school, they are in the after school care /
day nursery.

Pİ GENÇLİK DERNEĞİ 31 ARALIK 2027 TARİHİNE KADAR ESC KALİTE BELGESİNE SAHİP AKREDİTE BİR KURULUŞTUR
The concept of the music pedagogy is based on the musical development of children, and it is
accompanied by two music pedagogues. Period rituals are daily singing, big morning-circle and
times for music and rhythm. Furthermore, there will be special highlights like church services during
the year for special church events, the summer event or visiting concerts (f.e. the „Gewandhaus“,
or visiting the Oper of Leipzig).

The kindergarden „forum thomanum“ represents a bilingual organisation with an Italian/German and
English/German profile. The children will be guided by special assistance for language, and they will
learn languages by playing, singing and period rituals.

The third focus is based on religion pedagogy and focusses on the social environment of children.
Special church events during the year of the Catholic Church are offered by religion pedagogues.

The objective of the pedagogy of the kindergarden in general is to link all three main points together.
Music, language and religion should mesh and work together. There are cooperation with primary
schools to prepare children for the time after kindergarden.

Tasks
The volunteer supports the workers in their daily routines with the kids and shall set up own small
