Analog Electronics

Tutorial-2
1. Consider an NPN transistor whose base is connected to ground, collector is connected to 10 V
dc source through a 2 kΩ resistor, and a 3-mA current source is connected to the emitter with the
polarity so that the current is drawn out of the emitter terminal. If β=100 and Is = 10-15 A, find
the voltages at the emitter and the collector and calculate the base current.
Solution
1.
2. Given that Ad = 4000, V1 = 150 V, V2 =140 V, determine the
output voltage V0 of a differential amplifier for CMRR of
(i) 100 and (ii) 105.
Solution
3. Matched transistors Q1 and Q2 having β =200 is used in the circuit shown in Fig, with
VCC = 5 V and R = 5 kΩ. Determine Ic1. VBE = 0.7V
Solution
4. A voltage amplifier shown in the figure is fed by 200mV source and drives 10 Ω load.
Voltmeter measurement give Vid = 150 mV and V0= 10 V. If disconnecting load causes Vo to rises
to 12 V and then connecting a 30kOhms resistor across input terminals causes V0 to drop from 12
V to 9.6 V then find Rs, Ri, AOL and RO
Solution
5. A CE amplifier circuit is shown in fig. VCC = 15 V; β = 100, Rs = 1 kΩ, R1 =
60 kΩ, R2 = 30 kΩ, RC = 4 kΩ, RL= 4 kΩ RE = 2 kΩ, ro = Infinity, VBE = 0.7 V.
Assume capacitors as short at signal frequency, find the dc operating point and
performance parameters such as voltage gain, current gain and input resistance.
