Software 0985.07 Basic Procedures

SYSTEM INITIALIZATION (VIP)

V—Verify (Database Coverage and Effectiveness)
1. On Power up, check the Splash Screen on the MFD for
database validity. Press ENT on pedestal FMS or press
right most MFD softkey.
I—Input (Weights and Vspeeds)
1. page automatically displays,
verify correct AIRCRAFT WEIGHT.
a. If incorrect, press EMPTY WT softkey and enter aircraft
weight with FMS knob or alpha numeric pad, press ENT .
2. Input the Pilot(s) and Stores Weights, press ENT .
3. Enter # of PASSENGERS and average weight, press ENT .
4. Input CARGO weight, press ENT .
5. Input FUEL ON BOARD, press ENT .
6. Input FUEL RESERVES and press ENT .
7. Verify ZERO FUEL WEIGHT and AIRCRAFT WEIGHT within limits.
8. Press the FMS knob to remove cursor.
9. On PFD, press TMR/REF softkey and scroll with FMS knob
to configure V-speeds. Press TMR/REF when done.
10. Verify appropriate V-speeds on the airspeed tape.
P—Plan (Setup Flight Plan)
1. Press FPL on the pedestal FMS.
2. Press FMS knob to activate cursor:
a. Verify/Change the Departure Airport Identifier, press ENT
b. Enter required waypoint(s) press ENT .
c. Input Destination Airport, press ENT .
3. Press the FMS knob when finished to remove cursor.
4. Verify route on MFD .
Note: Twist RANGE knob to zoom in/out.
LOADING A DEPARTURE RUNWAY/SID
1. Select the Procedures Menu by pressing PROC .
2. With the FMS knob scroll to SELECT DEPARTURE , press ENT .
a. Scroll to desired Departure, press ENT .
b. Scroll to desired Runway, press ENT .
c. Scroll to desired Transition, press ENT .
3. Verify the sequence of waypoints.
4. With LOAD? highlighted, press ENT .
LOADING AN AIRWAY
1. Press FPL on pedestal FMS or PFD FMS control.
a. Scroll the cursor to the line below the desired entry point for
the airway.
2. Press MENU , then scroll to LOAD AIRWAY.
a. With the FMS knob scroll to the desired AIRWAY identifier,
press ENT .
b. With the FMS knob, scroll to the desired EXIT point, press ENT .
3. With LOAD? flashing, press ENT .
4. Verify the waypoints in the Active Flight Plan window.
LOADING A STAR
1. Press PROC , on pedestral FMS or PFD FMS control,
a. With FMS knob, scroll to SELECT ARRIVAL , press ENT .
b. Scroll to desired ARRIVAL, press ENT .
c. Scroll to desired TRANSITION, press ENT .
d. With LOAD? flashing, press ENT .
2. Verify the waypoints on the Active Flight Plan window.

DIRECT-TO A WAYPOINT
1. Press FPL , press the FMS knob, scroll to the desired way-
point in the flight plan and press D , press ENT to verify,
press ENT to activate.
—Or—
2. Press the D button, with the FMS knob input the desired
waypoint IDENTIFIER or NAVIGATION FACILITY,
press ENT to verify, press ENT to activate.
LOADING AN APPROACH
1.Press PROC , on pedestal FMS or PFD FMS control,
a. With FMS knob, scroll to SELECT APPROACH , press ENT .
b. Scroll to desired transition, press ENT .
c. Input minimums if known, press ENT .
d. With FMS knob, select LOAD , press ENT .
e. If flying a non GPS approach, acknowledge “NOT approved
for GPS”, by pressing ENT .
2. Verify waypoints.
ACTIVATE VECTORS TO FINAL (VTF)
1. With previously loaded approach, press PROC , scroll with
FMS knob to ACTIVATE VECTOR-TO-FINAL , press ENT .
ACTIVATE APPROACH
1. With previously loaded appraoch, press PROC , scroll with
FMS knob to ACTIVATE APPROACH press ENT .
VNAV—CROSSING RESTRICTION
To enter VNAV Altitude Restriction in the Flight Plan page:
1. Press FPL , activate cursor (if required) by pressing the FMS
knob.
2. Select the desired waypoint in the Flight Plan menu and scroll
to the ALT field.
3. Enter the altitude constraint.
a. From small FMS knob, dial the altitude.
b. From FMS key entry pad, type in values.
4. Press ENT to confirm the altitude entry.
5. Press the FMS knob to deactivate the cursor.
To utilize VNAV for a Descent:
1. Verify the VNV Profile configuration on the Flight Plan page.
a. Vertical Speed (VS TGT) —or—
b. Flight Path Angle (FPA)
2. Turn the ALT SEL knob to the clearance limit.
3. At one minute prior to the Top of Descent (TOD), verify the
VNV annunciations are NOT flashing.
a. If they are, reselect VNV on the GMC.
VNAV DIRECT TO
1. Select clearance limit with ALT SEL knob.
2. Select VNV button on GMC.
3. Press FPL , press FMS knob to turn on the cursor.
a. Input waypoint required

Scroll to the desired waypoint ALT field.
b. Input altitude restriction, press ENT .
c. Press MENU , scroll to VNV D , press ENT .
d. Confirm entry at prompt with ENT .

EXECUTING A MISSED APPROACH (SNAP)
1. Press GA button on power lever.
2. Source—Verify active navigation source has changed to GPS or
appropraite ground based NavAid.
3. NAV Mode—Select NAV mode on GMC after verifying first fix.
4. Altitude—Set final altitude in altitude preselect.
5. autoPilot—Engage Autopilot (as desired).
ADDING A HOLD
1. Press FPL , input or select desired holding fix.
2. Press MENU , scroll down to Hold at Fix, press ENT .
3. Define holding pattern and verify on the map, press ENT ,
verify again on page.
EDITING A HOLD
1. Press FPL , put cursor on holding fix.
2. Press MENU , scroll down to EDIT HOLD, press ENT .
3. Modify hold criteria as required, verify new hold on map, select
UPDATE and press ENT .
DIRECT TO A POINT ON MAP
1. From , press RANGE knob.
2. Pan map pointer to desired landmark or waypoint on map.
3. Press D ,
a. Press ENT to verify
b. Press ENT to activate.
4. Press RANGE knob to cancel map pointer.

CREATE USER DEFINED WAYPOINT (FROM MAP)

1. From , press the Range knob.
2. Pan map pointer to place of desired waypoint on MAP, press ENT .
3. Scroll with FMS knob to Create User Waypoint , press ENT .
4. Input user waypoint information,
a. User waypoint name (if desired)
b. Check temporary if waypoint should disapear at next
power cycle
c. Waypoint definition (as required)
5. Press ENT to confirm waypoint.
6. Verify user defined waypoint in FPL window and on map.
7. Press RANGE knob to cancel map pointer.
CREATE USER DEFINED WAYPOINT (FROM MENU)
1. Press FPL button.
2. Put cursor in position for desired waypoint.
3. Press MENU ,scroll to Create User Waypoint, press ENT .
4. Input waypoint information,
a. User waypoint name (if desired)
b. Check temporary if waypoint should disappear at next
power cycle
c. Waypoint definition (as required)
5. Press ENT to confirm waypoint.
6. Verify user defined waypoint in FPL window and on map.

ALONG TRACK OFFSET
1. Press FPL , activate cursor (if required) by pressing the FMS
knob.
2. Select the desired waypoint in the Flight Plan menu.
a. On the MFD, press the ATK OFST softkey —or—
b. Press MENU and select Create ATK Offset Waypoint .
3. With the small FMS knob, enter the desired offset distance (+ / -).
4. Press ENT key to create waypoint.
5. Press the FMS knob to deactivate the cursor.
GPS COURSE INBOUND
1. Press FPL ; verify waypoint
—or—
Press FMS knob, input waypoint desired.
2. With waypoint selected, press MENU, scroll with FMS knob to
ACTIVATE LEG, press ENT , press FMS knob to cancel cursor.
—or—
Press FMS knob, scroll to desired waypoint, press D to verify,
press ENT to activate.
3. On PFD, press OBS softkey, twist CRS knob on GMC to desired
inbound course.
4. When waypoint is reached, FPL auto sequencing will remain
inhibited until OBS softkey is pressed.
PARALLEL TRACK
1. Press FPL , press MENU , scroll to Parallel Track , press ENT ,
scroll FMS knob left or right and press ENT .
2. Scroll with FMS knob to the required distance, press ENT to
verify, press ENT to activate.
STORE FLIGHT PLAN
1. Press FPL .
2. Press MENU .
3. Scroll to Store Flight Plan , press ENT to verify.
4. Press ENT to activate.
RECALL A STORED FLIGHT PLAN
1. Press FPL .
2. Press MENU .
3. Scroll to Store Flight Plan .
4. Select desired flight plan, press ENT to verify.
5. Press ENT to activate.
