RATIONALE
This document is written to provide information on the selection of aircraft wheel mounted tubeless tire inflation valve
assemblies and their components.
1. SCOPE
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) defines the configuration of aircraft wheel inflation valve assemblies, including
required tolerances, materials, and appropriate finishes.
2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS
The following documents form a part of this document to the extent specified within. The latest issue of SAE publications
shall apply. The applicable issue of other publications shall be the issue in effect on the date of the purchase order. In the
event of conflict between the text of this document and references cited herein, the text of this document takes
precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulation unless a specific exemption
has been obtained.

3. REQUIREMENTS
All valves shall meet the standards set forth in The Tire and Rim Association Aircraft Year Book, which is issued annually.

The valves shall be brass or steel and plated as specified by the customer. The steel shall be corrosion resistant
composition 303 per AMS5640.
3.3 Tolerances
Unless otherwise specified, the valve dimension accuracy and the tolerances on the dimensions on the valve drawings
shall be as specified in The Tire and Rim Association Aircraft Year Book.
3.4 Finish
Tin plate to 0.0003-inch minimum thickness, 0.0005-inch maximum thickness per MIL-T-10727. Cadmium plate per
AMS-QQ-P-416, Type 2, Class 2, 0.0003-inch minimum thickness.
Maximum Inflation Pressures for Aircraft Tubeless Tire Valves are to be as specified in The Tire and Rim Association
Aircraft Year Book.
The recommended installation torque shall be as specified in The Tire and Rim Association Aircraft Year Book.
The tire valve threads shall be per The Tire and Rim Association Standard shown in The Tire and Rim Association Aircraft
Year Book.
The Bore Core Chamber (Core Drilling) shall be per The Tire and Rim Association Standard shown in The Tire and Rim
Association Aircraft Year Book. It shall be capable of meeting the test requirements for TR C4 and TR C2 valve cores.
3.9 Notes
2. Referenced documents shall be of the issue in effect on date of invitations for bid.
4. All dimensions shown in The Tire and Rim Association Aircraft Year Book apply after plating.
5. Remove all burrs and break all sharp edges - 0.005 inch maximum.
6. Valves supplied to the military shall have the part number impression stamped in 1/16-inch characters per
MIL-STD-130.
