Welcome to the Part 1 episode of Configuring and Installing a Computer System.

I have a question to all of you,

 If yes, how do you properly disassemble a system unit?
 If no, don’t worry!

In this instructional video, I will help you to understand and add your knowledge in the process of
Disassembling the Computer System Unit.

Objectives

Let us define first what is computer disassembly?

Computer Disassembly

Computer Disassembly is the process of breaking down a device into separate parts.

And now, what is the importance of knowing on how to disassemble a computer system unit?

Disassembly of any device is required to determine a problem, to replace a part, or take the parts and
use them in another device.

Following the procedure in disassemble of computer is also the practice of OHS standard that can
prevent us to damage the computer and harm the computer-user.

Before starting computer disassembly, make sure you have the tools you need and they're all close
by and be sure to have a container to keep the screws in so you have them when you want to put
things back together.

Step 1: The first thing you do is to unplug every cable that is plugged in to your computer. That
includes the cables such as Power, USB, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet, Ethernet, Modem, etc. Just
unplug all the cables for safety purposes.

Step 2: unscrew the four screws at the back of the computer. On most computer cases, there will be
large knobs that you can unscrew by hand or by screw driver on the back-right side of the
computer.
Computer cases can be removed into different ways depend on its manufacturer structure.

Step 3: Reminder: Always wear an anti-static wrist strap. Unscrew the system fan in the computer case
unplug the fan from the motherboard.
Step 4: CPU fan and heat sink is a device that helps to reduce the temperature of a processor. You
can use screwdriver or finger in turning the spin of CPU fan and heatsink. Also removed the
different wiring and connectors inside the system unit.

Step 5: Unscrew the power supply depend on where it is located in your system unit.

Step 6: Removed the following internal drives if its present in your system unit. Solid State Drive,
Hard Disk Drive, Optical Disk Drive or Floppy Disk Drive

Step 7: To remove the RAM, push down on both tabs holding the RAM in place, which are located at
both ends of the RAM. Be careful in removing the CPU. Hold it in both edges and do not use
excessive force in removing the CPU.

Step 8: In the video, it has shown two expansion cards; Wi-Fi Card and Graphic Card with fan and
heatsink. The expansion card has also screwed at the back panel to

Steph 9: The motherboard has six screws holding it to the frame, which are located in different side.
Remove them and then lift the motherboard out of the frame.

Disassembly is the process of breaking down a device into separate parts. Disassembly of computer
helped us to determine a problem, to replace a part, or take the parts and use them in another device.
In order to perform the skills in ICT-CSS, you need to be familiar and follow the right process in
disassembling the computer.
This process will help you as a beginner in disassembling a computer. But the process may change in due
to different factor such us: depend upon the manufacturing structure, brand of the computer and if you
are already skilled, you may have your own way of disassembling the computer.
