1. The annual salaries (in thousands) of 20 employees at a company are as

125, 130, 135, 140. Calculate the sample standard deviation and interpret its
meaning in the context of the data.
2. In a game, a player rolls two fair six-sided dice. If the sum of the numbers
rolled is 9 or 10, the player wins. What is the probability of winning on a
single roll?
3. A standard deck of 52 playing cards is shuffled and one card is drawn at
random. What is the probability of drawing a face card (jack, queen, or king)?
4. A committee of 5 people is to be formed from a group of 8 men and 6
women. What is the probability that the committee consists of 3 men and 2
women, if members are chosen randomly?
