PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND PHYSICAL FITNESS PROGRAM

EXPECTATION
After going through this module, learners are expected to perform physical
activity and physical fitness guided by FITT principles.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF THE LESSON

Regular exercise and physical activity like dance promote healthy mind and
body. It improves overall health. Staying active can also help us maintain a healthy
weight range and reduce the risk of certain diseases. Before doing any exercises or
physical activity it is important to follow the FITT principle. FITT is acronym that stands
for Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type. It helps prepare and condition our body to
reduce muscle soreness and lessen the risk of injury.
Frequency - is how often you exercise. Usually, we measure this by number of days
each week.
Intensity - is how hard your exercise. We might categorize this as low, moderate, or
high intensity.
Time - refers to the time of day you exercise and how long each session lasts
Type- refers to what kind of exercise you are doing. For example, you might do
cardiovascular activity (also known simply as 'cardio'), strength training, or a
combination of the two.

ACTIVITY: Do it, Move It

Directions: Do all the basic physical activity in 15 minutes. While you are doing the
exercise take a picture or film and submit to your teacher.

NATURE AND BACKGROUND OF THE FESTIVAL DANCE

EXPECTATION
After going through this module, learners are expected to describe the nature
and background of the festival dances.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF THE LESSON

Festival dances are cultural dances performed to the strong beats of percussion
instruments by a community of people sharing the same culture usually done in honor
of a Patron Saint or in thanksgiving of a bountiful harvest. Festival dances may be
religious or secular in nature. But the best thing about festivals is that they add to the
merry-making and festivities where they are celebrated, the reason why they are called
festival dances after all. Festival dances draw the people’s culture by portraying the
people’s ways of life through movements, costumes and implements inherent to their
place of origin. Whatever festival we celebrate, be it done to honor a religious icon or
celebrate our industry. Now what is the difference between a religious and non-
religious festival? Religious Festival is a festival by a certain or specific group of
churches or religions while Non-religious or Secular Festival is a festival with a
group of people, community due to tradition and culture.
Festival dances reflect the unity of the Filipino community that despite the
economic, social, environmental, cultural, and political challenges we face every day,
there can be no other race more resilient than ours.

INJURIES AND EMERGENCY SITUATIONS IN PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
AND DANCE SETTING
EXPECTATION
After going through this module, learners are expected to execute the
appropriate first aid for injuries and emergency situations in physical activity and dance
settings (cramps, sprain, heat exhaustion)

BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF THE LESSON

It is important to give correct first aid. Because of this, individuals who are
properly trained and with the correct equipment are a huge help in ensuring better
safety for everyone. Without proper First Aid, a simple injury could become severe,
and, in some cases, fatalities can occur because of lack of immediate medical
treatment.
