RFID chip consists of a microchip and an antenna.
Microchip is used to store and process data and antenna is
used to receive and transmit data.

The reader in the washing machine sends out radio signals to


the tag attached with the cloth. The tag antenna receives it and
send the data from the chip to the reader.

Any two from:


− It stops material being incorrectly washed
− It stops coloured items of clothing being in the wrong wash
− It stops clothing of different material being washed with others
− It allows the wash cycle to be set automatically
− It will know the amount of water to use so won’t waste water
