Preface 5
Chapter 1

Introduction to source systems

A source system is an external application or a system that acts as a data source for the Business 360 data
store. For example, Salesforce or Workday can provide data to the Business 360 data store. You can create
custom source systems or use the predefined source systems.

You can configure source systems that you create to standardize picklist values during data ingress or
import. To standardize picklists, associate picklists of the business entity with code lists from MDM -
Reference 360. The associated code list contains code values, and the crosswalks of the associated code list
contain value mappings. When you ingress data, Business 360 checks whether the code list that you
associate with a picklist has a crosswalk with value mappings. The ingress process standardizes the values
of the picklists with mapped values in the associated code list. If a crosswalk isn't available, the ingress
process fails in the transform step.

For more information about code lists and crosswalks, see Introducing Reference 360 in the Reference 360
help.

Predefined source systems

Business 360 Console contains predefined source systems for the business applications to use.

The following table lists the predefined source systems that Business 360 Console contains:

Source system Description

Default A default source system for all business applications except Customer 360
SaaS. Business applications use this source system when users create
records.

Informatica Customer 360 A default source system for the Customer 360 SaaS. Customer 360 SaaS uses
this source system when users create records in Customer 360 SaaS.

Chapter 3

Create a source system

After you model your master data, define the source systems from which you plan to import or ingress data.

1. Click New.
The New Asset dialog box appears.
2. Click Source Systems, and then click Create.
The Source System dialog box appears.
3. Specify the following source system properties:

Property Description

Display Name Name of the source system that you want to appear in the user interface.

Internal ID A unique source system identifier, which is generated based on the display name that you
enter. You cannot change the internal ID after you create the source system.

Description Optional. A brief description of the source system.

Location Project or folder within which you want to save the source system.

4. Click OK.
5. To associate code list to the picklist fields of a business entity, click Add Asset.
The Select an Asset dialog box appears.
6. Select the assets, and click Select.
7. In the Associate Code List section, select the code lists for the picklist fields in your asset.
You cannot associate code lists simultaneously for multiple source systems.
Note: If you do not have code lists created for the reference data set in Reference 360, the picklist is
associated with the standard code list in Reference 360.
8. Click Save.
The source system is created.
