WEEK 1: Advance Your Speaking

Day 1 (Speaking)

I. Short discussion about IELTS background


- What is IELTS
- What are the 2 modules
- Band score/Level/CRF

II. Overview of IELTS Speaking


- 3 parts of speaking
- timing
- Structure of answering
- Introduce the “IELTS Speaking Success” book
- Types of questions (present some examples)

III. Class methodology

Day 2 (Speaking)

I. Speaking Scoring
- Introduce the 4 criteria (give details each)
- Introduce the Band descriptor
- Proper feedbacking
- Proper scoring (IMS Standard: NOT over 7.0)

II. Video presentation


- Sample video of a speaking exam
- Mock test / real exam set up

Day 3 (Speaking)

III. Assessment (simulation)


a. Thet trainees will we paired to do a speaking class simulation
b. The pair gets to decide who will act as the teacher and student.
c. The trainer (me) will decide for their topic, what part in speaking,
the level of the student, and the day/week that the student has
been in their class.
d. The trainer will give his feedback after
DAY 4: Get Reading-Ready (Reading)

I. Overview of the Reading IELTS


- Timing
- Differences of the 2 modules
- Number of passages
- Number of questions

II. Types of Questions


- Diagram label completion
- Identifying a writer’s views or claims
- Identifying information
- Matching features
- Matching headings
- Matching information
- Matching sentence endings
- Multiple choice
- Sentence completion
- Short-answer questions
- Summary, Note, Flow chart, tables completion

III. Few tips and Strategies


- Skimming and scanning
- Keywording (finding locations)

DAY 5 (Reading)

II. Assessment (practice test and simulation)


- Let the teachers answer 3 passages
- Checking
- Select from the trainees to act as a teacher and discuss some items
- The trainer will give his feedback after
Week 2: Lift Your Listening

II. Assessment (Simulation)
- Assign teachers to discuss the practice test. The teacher will be asked
to act as a teacher.
- The trainee will give his feedback after every simulation
