I. OBJECTIVES:
A. Content Standards
The learner demonstrates understanding of lifestyle and weight management to promote
societal fitness.
B. Performance Standards
The learner maintains an active lifestyle to influence the physical activity participation of
the community and society.
C. Learning Competencies
MELC 1: Engages in moderate to vigorous physical activities for at least 60 minutes a day
in and out of school – PE10PF-IVc-h-45
Subtask: 1. Define cheerdance and identify its basic movements
2. Create a simple routine of cheerdance using the basic positions and
movements through improvisation
3. Appreciate the value of dancing in the improvement and maintenance of
health and fitness

IV. PROCEDURE:

A. MOTIVATION:

Stress Relief Dance (Video Presentation)


Students will move and groove by following the dance steps on video.

B. REVIEW:

* Definiton of Dance
* Ask the students the following questions:
1. Have you experience doing cheerdancing?
2. How can a student like you benefit from performing cheerdance?

C. ACTIVITY:

Lecture-discussion about the concepts of Cheerdance:


- Definition
- Essentials in Cheerdancing
- Basic skills (Gymnastic side and Dance Side)

D. ANALYSIS:

Learning Task 1:
Video Presentation of Cheerdance Performance of National University Pep Squad
(Students will familiarize with the positions of hands, feet and the movements used on the
performance)

● Ask the students the following questions based on the video being watched.
1. What was the video all about?
2. Are you familiar with the steps/ movements?
3. What are the steps shown in the video?
Learning Task 2:
Counter-demonstrations
- Students will execute the basic positions of arms and feet in Cheerdance)

E. ABSTRACTION:

Skills-demonstration (Basic Cheerdance Creation)


Have a skills-demonstration with students on the basic movements in cheerdance with correct
timing and counting.
1. The class will be divided into 4 groups.
2. Each group shall brainstorm and master the basic position and movements of Cheerdance.
3. Create an own routine combining the basic movements learned from the class.
4. Can repeat the steps twice and create 4 sets of 16 counts of basic movements.
5. Refer to the rubrics as guide for presentation.

F. APPPLICATION:

Performance of basic cheerdance creation.

Process Questions:
1. What value(s) have you developed while practicing with the group?
2. What is/are the benefits of cheerdance?

“There is more to dancing than just movement and rhythm. Being fit and healthy as a
result of this active recreational activity are just bonus points. As you make dancing a habit, you
will find out that, as time goes on, you tend to be more sociable, and more confident yet
disciplined, more beautiful inside and out, and find yourself an essential organ working in a
system. Just like any other sport or endeavor for that reason, dancing develops a sense of
community and teamwork.”

GROUP ACTIVITY: BASIC CHEERDANCE CREATION

Rubrics:

ORGANIZATION OF MOVEMENTS – 10 PTS.


EXECUTION - 5 PTS.
SYNCHRONICITY – 5 PTS.
TOTAL = 20 PTS.

Student will also answer some questions about the lessons.

VI.

ASSIGNMENT/AGREEMENT:

1. Search for cheerdance music that you will use for your project presentation.
2. Wednesdays will be PE day, time for creating you cheerdance routines in preparation for
Culminating Activity of MAPEH 10 – School-based Cheerdance Competition.
