Why do people stay in capsule hotels?

SLEEPING IN A CAPSULE

In Japan there are some hotels with very small rooms – or capsules. Each capsule
is 6 feet x 3 feet x 4 feet! In the “room” there is a bed, a TV, and a lamp. There isn’t
a door and there aren’t any chairs or tables. Each capsule has a mirror but there
isn’t a bathroom. You share a bathroom with the other guests outside the capsule.
There isn’t a locker in the room – a place to put your clothes and wallet, for
example. But there are some lockers near the front desk.

Some questions and answers:

Q (1) Who stays in capsule hotels?
A Usually, businesspeople. The “rooms” are too small for tourists.
Q (2)
A They are cheap and they are usually in the center of town or near a subway or train
station. People go out after work, when they are tired and it’s difficult to go home.
Q (3)
A Usually, there are about 50 people in a capsule hotel. Their capsules are opposite, next
to, above, and under you!
