INSTRUCTIONS:

ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE COMPLIED WITH. NO ASSIGNMENT WILL BE MARKED IF ALL
THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE NOT FULLY COMPLIED WITH.

1. The cover page for group work must be signed by all members and attached.
2. Students must divide themselves into groups. Group size must be between 1 – 5 students. Any
group with more than 5 students will receive 0%. No individual assignments will be marked.
3. Remember, the portfolio activity entails group work. Therefore, the completeness of the activity
is the responsibility of all group members.

4. Due Date: 11 October 2023 (Before 12:00 in the afternoon)


5. Place of Submission: At the entrance of the Department of Industrial Psychology in the Flippie
Groenewoud Building. Level 2. The box will be marked EIOP Assignments.
6. All assignments must be typed. NO HAND WRITTEN ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE MARKED

1.2. During the adjourning stage, the team leader should reflect on the group’s experience and

that she has no choice but to work with us and that this is the only thing that can help her pass
the module.

have an impact on employee motivation.

Hint: Thato is a religious person; she always wants us to start the meetings with a prayer, as
she believes that God provides the wisdom to work effectively.

2.1. During the group’s life span, members develop a sense of friendship and trust which leads to
high group cohesion; hence, some members might become depressed during the adjourning
stage.

2.1.2. Identify the factors that influence the cohesiveness of a group and describe by means of

Time spent together – The time spent together with members enables communication to become easier
since we have enough time to get to know one another and as a result it becomes easier for all
of us to corporate.

Previous success – Our group managed to do well in our first assignment therefore this builds our
confidence since were are now motivated to keep the same results and do better than our
previous assignment.

Gender – In our group we have more males than females and this forces woman to prove themselves
since they try to balance the equation when were are competing about which gender is smarter
than the other.

External threads – We are motivated by the success of other groups and this motivates us to become
better since we don’t want other groups to belittle us.

Group size – We decided to reduce the number of our group members so that we can all participate
without others feeling lazy and end up relying on other group members.
