    IV. Rationale and Objectives

    Pursuant to the Gender and Development (GAD) Program implementation in


    the Department of Education supported by RA 9710 and DepEd Memorandum No
    134 s. 2017, the Division of Lanao del Norte shall conduct a gender sensitivity
    seminar to all schools in the Division that tackles the refocusing of GAD to assist
    in the current understanding and implementation of the New Normal in the
    teaching and learning environment. Topics included in the session shall enable
    educators to appreciate and understand why gender and development lens is
    deemed essential at all times.

    This 2-day seminar-workshop aims to:


    1. raise awareness among the participants about GAD issues and be
    responsive in GAD program of activities;
    2. appreciate the need to implement GAD in the New Normal;
    3. understand the gender and development dimension of the pandemic;
    4. learn the basic key concepts in integrating gender in the new normal;
    and
    5. manage the quality assurance and monitoring and evaluation of the
    seminar conducted.

    situations brought about by COVID 19, health protocols became the framework
    for all fronts of human activities.

    Even if the educational system experienced the above scenario, but still
    delivery of the learning must go on. To address pressing concerns, a seminar-
    workshop with the aid of GAD magazines is conceptualized to adhere the call to
    implement education in the new normal.

    With the above scenario, it’s a need to equip the school heads and
    teachers on the topics about cyber safety, mental and psychological health
    awareness and readiness and on how to address and cope up with the current
    situation (all of the above topics are being discussed in the proposed GAD
    magazine).

    At the end of the 2-day seminar-workshop, the participants are able to


    submit the following:
    1. Plan for School-based seminar-workshop on Harmonized GAD Guidelines
