C. Discussion
Base on the hidden words that were revealed
our topic for today is all about philosophical
perspective. Now let us know the role of
philosophical perspective in education. Are
you ready to know more about philosophical
perspective?

Okay!

Philosophical Perspective plays a vital role

in education, shaping our understanding of its
purpose, guiding its practice, and providing
tools for critical reflection. It helps us
navigate the complex decisions involved in
educating individuals and preparing them for
life.

There are three categories in philosophical

perspective these are the following:
D. Classical Philosophies
E. Modern Philosophies
F. Post Modern Philosophies
but let us discuss the Classical Philosophies
first. There are four classical philosophies
these are the following
G. Idealism
H. Realism
I. Existentialism
J. Pragmatism
These classical philosophies continue to
influence education today, shaping our
understanding of what it means to be
educated and how education should be
conducted. They remind us that education is
not just about acquiring knowledge and skills,
but also about cultivating virtues, pursuing
truth, and preparing for life in the future.

Now lets discuss the two classical

philosophies which are the idealism and
realism.

Idealism

Idealism is a philosophical approach that has

its central tenet that ideas are the only true
reality, the only thing worth knowing.

The founder of idealism is Plato.

Idealism is a way of thinking that says the

world is shaped by our thoughts and ideas. It's
like saying, "What we think, we become."

In idealism, the mind and ideas are the most

important things. The physical world around
us is less important than the world of thoughts
and ideas.

For example, let's say you're looking at a tree.

An idealist would say that the tree only exists Yes ma’am!
because you perceive it with your mind and
you have an idea of what a tree is.

In education, idealists believe that learning is

all about understanding big ideas and values.
They think that school should help students
understand deep truths about life and become
better people.

Did you guys understand what is idealism and

how it is important in education?

Okay let’s proceed to the second classical

philosophy which is the realism.

Realism

The founder of realism is Aristotle, student

of Plato since he opposed the idea of idealism
which is developed by his teacher Plato.

Realism is a way of thinking that says the

world is real and exists on its own, no matter
what we think or feel about it.

Realism believes that reality exists

independent of the human mind. The ultimate
reality is the world of physical objects.

Realist believe that reality is objective and

can be discovered through observation and
rational thinking.
In realism, what we can see, touch, and
experience is what's most important. The
world is not just what we think it is, but it has
its own independent existence.

For example, if you see a tree, a realist would

say that the tree is real and it would still be
there even if no one was around to see it.

In education, realists believe that learning is

about understanding the real world. They
think that school should help students learn
facts and skills that they can use in the real
world.

So that’s the second classical philosophy.

Idealism is like saying, "The world is what

we think it is." It's all about our ideas and
thoughts.

On the other hand, Realism is like saying,

"The world is what it is, no matter what we
think."
We learned about philosophical
So, the main difference is about what we perspective and classical philosophies
think is most important - our ideas and which are the idealism and realism.
thoughts (idealism), or the world outside our
minds (realism). Idealism is about what we think is most
Since I already discuss it properly I’m important, our ideas and thought while
expecting you already know about that. realism is about the real world outside our
minds,
C. Generalization

What have you learned in todays discussion?

(students will answer)

Okay very good what’s the difference

between the idealism and realism?

Okay very good!

So what’s the importance of philosophical

perspective when it comes to teaching?

Okay very good!

D. Application Yes ma’am!
