WHAT IS EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

Experiential Learning is the process of learning by doing. By engaging students


in hands-on experiences and reflection, they are better able to connect theories and
knowledge learned in the classroom to real-world situations.

Experiential learning opportunities exist in a variety of course- and non-course-


based forms and may include community service, service-learning, undergraduate
research, study abroad/away, and culminating experiences such as internships, student
teaching, and capstone projects, to name a few.

When students participate in experiential education opportunities, they gain:

 A better understanding of course material


 A broader view of the world and an appreciation of community
 Insight into their own skills, interests, passions, and values
 Opportunities to collaborate with diverse organizations and people
 Positive professional practices and skill sets
 The gratification of assisting in meeting community needs
 Self-confidence and leadership skills

Diversity of Learners:
Diverse Learners include children and students of all abilities from racially,
ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

A. Why is it important to know the diversity of learners?

C. In what ways can these students’ differences be addressed in the classroom
across the curriculum?
Why is diversity of learners important?
When working and learning with people from a variety of backgrounds and
cultures present in the classroom, students gain a more comprehensive
understanding of the subject matter. It also teaches students how to use their own
strengths and points of view to contribute in a diversed working environment.

and youth culture.

Consequently, media is a modern form of communication aiming at spreading
knowledge within the whole world, regardless of any form of discrimination.
Through media and communications psychology has helped to connect diversed people
from far and near a geographical structural/location.

Definition of audience
A group of listeners or spectators. The concert attracted a large audience: a
reading, viewing, or listening public. The film is intended for a young audience, a group
of ardent admirers or devotees that have developed an enthusiastic audience for his
ideas.

Expectedly, when you conduct a cultural show or concert or a big event, you will
have a diversed audiences, right?

Regardless of the sector you work for, or the part of the world you are based in,
your audience is expectedly in diversity. Why/How? It's made up of different ages,
backgrounds, religions, sexual orientations and identities, disabilities, long-term
health conditions and education-levels.
Why is it important to consider audience diversity?
Part of communicating more effectively with a diverse audience is beginning to
understand our own biases and how our experiences and values shape the lens
(view through the eye) through which we view our world. We cannot assume that
others share our views of the world.
