TECHNOLOGY-ENHANCED LEARNING (TEL) ENVIRONMENT

ASSIGNMENT 2 – 60 marks
Designing the new generation of computer lab ecosystem
The school manager has raised concerns about the outdated computer lab environment, which is
impacting students' learning experiences. The use of obsolete technology is hindering real-time class
experiences and impeding skill development. This issue not only affects current education but also
poses a risk to prospects.

To tackle this challenge, it is crucial to equip students and teachers with modernized tools and
resources to enhance their learning and skill development, thus laying a strong foundation for their
future success. The changing landscape of innovation, driven by technological advancements and
sustainability, underscores the necessity for a new generation lab ecosystem. This environment will
play a key role in fostering student (and teacher) empowerment, collaborative learning, and real-
world problem-solving skills to prepare them for future challenges.

In line with this effort, you have been entrusted with proposing the design of a new generation
computer lab environment for your school. This proposal will prioritize efficient management,
effective teaching in a secure and safe environment, innovative layouts, user-centricity, and practical
functionality to meet the evolving needs of our students.

A. Requirements

Your task is to design a feasible sustainable new generation lab ecosystem that will aim at enhancing
the teaching and learning process at school. In your design you will have to addresses the following
criteria and justify wherever applicable how teaching and learning will be impacted:

(a) Introduction (5 marks)

Establish clear objectives.

(b) Analysis of the current lab ecosystem (10 marks)

A comprehensive analysis of the current laboratory ecosystem at your school is essential to
identify and address any existing issues.
Thoroughly examine factors such as equipment functionality, safety protocols, resource
management, and overall efficiency to gain an in-depth understanding of the ecosystem's
strengths and weaknesses.

(c) Proposed Design (15 marks)

Propose a cutting-edge innovative design for your new generation lab ecosystem with a
technologically advanced and realistic setting.
Develop strategic solutions to enhance the overall laboratory experience for students,
teachers, and management. Make provision for assistive technologies.
Explain how the issues at hand will be addressed in the proposed design.
Elaborate on the strengths and challenges in your TEL Environment.
(d) Implementation Plan (10 marks)
Describe the procedures involved in establishing a laboratory ecosystem and its subsequent
maintenance.
Develop a strategy for capacity building (training and professional development), an inventory
management system, and protocols for addressing issues as they arise.

(e) Security management (5 marks)

Establish clear guidelines, safety rules, and regulations is essential for effective security
management.

(f) Support. (5 marks)

Responsibilities and contingency plans for unforeseen challenges for team members and
stakeholders.

(g) Monitoring and Assessment (5 marks)

Create a plan for monitoring and assessing the lab ecosystem to systematically observe, record,
and evaluate current and changing conditions in the enhanced teaching and learning
environment.

(h) Presentation (5 marks)

Your presentation should not exceed 7 minutes.

B. Deadline for Submission on Google Classroom is scheduled for the 10th of June at
11:55pm. Instructions on submission will be available on Google Classroom.
