CDA Lesson Plan Form

Lesson Plan Title: “Art Therapy” Date of Lesson:05/14/2024

Concept/Topic to Teach: The Concept of This Activity is to Have the Children Express
Themselves Freely and To Be Independently Creative. While, Growing in Social Emotional
Development , Cognitive and Physical Development (Fine Motor)

● Individual Activity

Early Learning Standards addressed:

Specific learning outcomes/objectives/learning domains: The Outcome Will be That The


Children Using their Five Senses , while also Developing and Engaging in Fine Motor Skills ,
Cognitive by Sorting and Following a Sequence, and Language / Social Emotional by
Communicating with One another about their Creative Art Pieces.

Required materials and preparation needed: Scented Non-Toxic Paint , Canvases , Paint
Brushes , Disposable Paper , Paper Towels , Water , Paint Tubes , Radio , Classical Music CDs

How I will introduce the activity: During Circle Time , After Going Over Todays Lesson and The
Main Theme for that Week and Day in the Curriculm , We Will Stretch to Classical Music for
Toddlers and Ill Ask If They Would Like to Paint to the Music As Well. After Taking a Friendly
Vote Just So The Children can Voice their Opinions , we Will Do Small Centers while One
Teacher Assists the Children and the Other Teacher Lay out the Materials for the Art Activity. As
the Layout gets Finished , Teachers will Sing a Transition Song for Children to Clean up , Have
Restroom Break , and Then Get Seated for Further Instructions.

Step-by-Step procedures: Teachers will Lay out the Disposable Paper on the Table , Taped to
the Table , Secondly Set up the Canvases while the Other Teacher are Putting on the Smocks on
the Children. Lay Out Small Containers with Different Colored Paint for Each Child, Lay out
Brushes Next to Containers. Give Instruction to Wait until The Teacher Says Go ( Green Light
Prop) Play the Classical Music and Then Give the Students The Green Light GO! , as They’re
Painting Point out That Their using Fine Motor Skills , Color Recognition , Visual Expression ,
Sensory Development , Spatial Intelligence and Self Expression Enhancement.

Follow-up (for example, related materials I may put in a learning center after this lesson):
Waterproof Paint , Sponges , Shaped Object Paint Brushes , Empty Canvases , Drawing Paper ,
Crayons
How I will evaluate the activity: I will Make this Activity Important By Elaborating on the
Developmental Skills That Will Grow as We Do This Activity. Letting them Choose Their Own
Color Pallete , or Their own Technique with Painting will add Significance to the Activity as Well.

Accommodations for children with disabilities, if needed: Providing Extra Assistance if Needed ,
and Close Supervision whether its at the Same Table as Others or Needing to Be One on One
with the Activity , While Also Allowing Them to Independently Do Their Work Themselves.

Adaptations for children who are dual language learners, if needed: If Children cannot Use Paint
, Cut Up Pieces of Paper and Glue will do The Trick! If Child(ren) Are Still Developing First
language, Using their Language by Recorded Tape to Can Work.

Possible connections to other topics: FreeStyle Painting , Teacher-Directed Painting , Dramatic


Play , And Exploration of Reading. ( I Chose these Topics as Possible Relations because You Can
Still Be Creative and Also, Listen to Classical Tunes at the Same Time.)
