We Excel
December 2011

When parents and schools work together, they make an unbeatable team.

After School Arrangements Please ensure you establish and communicate your expectations for after school with your child in advance and then confirm changes by writing a note in your childs agenda. This way their teacher can reassure them as to the change in routine and assist them as needed. Also, please make sure you notify Transportation so a driver is not kept waiting for a child who is not going to be riding the bus on a given day. Transportations phone number is (403) 845-3255. If you need to pick up your children before the end of the school day, please sign them out at the office. Your children will then be paged to come to the office to leave with you. Thank you! A HUGE Thank-You to Suncor Energy for providing our children with a nutritious snack on December 20, 2011. Please note that there will be NO Hot Lunch in December. Our Habit this month is Begin with the End in Mind. This habit is based on the imagination. In the 7 Habits of Highly Successful People, Covey reminds us that one of the best ways to incorporate this habit into your life is to develop a Personal Mission Statement. It focuses on what you want to be and do. It is your plan for success. Take a moment to talk to your child about setting goals and envisioning success. December 2: Professional Development Day: On December 2, our teachers will be in Drayton Valley engaged in a workshop on inquiry based learning with a focus on Exemplars of Student Engagement. Student Medication If your child requires that medication be administered at school, a Wild Rose Public School Permission/Request form must be completed and returned to the school office. Medication sent to the school must be in the original container dispensed by the pharmacist. Such requests for administering medication must: -be of a simplistic nature that a lay person could successfully perform (i.e. teacher, teacher assistant, secretary) -be in writing issued by a medical practitioner or pharmacist -specify the time(s) at which such medication should be administered -specify the exact dosage and method of administration -storage instructions (security, refrigeration, etc.) -specify duration of treatment -outline procedure to be followed in case of adverse reaction
