Gather all your boring, non-colored dry pasta and get ready to transform it into something fun!
Use all kinds of pasta you can get your hands on {bow-tie, wagon wheel, penne etc} but it is
always a great idea to use what you already have at home, first.

Instructions:
5- Once the colors are evenly mixed, spread the colored pasta on a paper towel lined surface
(like a tray or counter). Make sure you get all the color evenly spread out over the pasta.
6- Leave the pasta to dry. (It does not take very long.)
7- Once it has dried, start assembling the rainbow. Take an A4 paper and draw a rainbow, with
its sections using a marker. (Hint: How many colors does a rainbow have? That’s how many
strands you will draw!)
8- Start pasting the pasta by applying glue on the paper. Each strand of the rainbow should have
its own color, in the correct order.
After making your rainbow, answer the following questions on a separate sheet of paper:
Recall all the notable Pakistanis discussed in class and carry out a brief research on any of
them. (You may choose to do your research on a Notable Pakistani of your choice as well).
Make a decorative booklet using A4 papers by adding the information you have gathered from
the research.
Please note that your booklet should not exceed 4-5 pages.

What Is Recycling?
Paper, plastic, glass, metal, fabric, and even food can be recycled.
Most homes have recycling bins so that we can recycle our own garbage, such as drinks bottles
and cereal boxes. The rubbish can also be taken to recycling banks or at local recycling centers.
Large trucks will usually take away the garbage from the recycling bins. The rubbish is then
sorted and taken to factories to be made into something new.
Glass, metal, and plastic are washed and then broken down into small pieces. The pieces are
then melted and made into new things, such as glass jars and plastic bottles.
Paper
Paper is recycled by cleaning it in soapy water. Any ink is washed off and the wet paper is
mixed and rolled out really thin. It is then left to dry.
Activity: Make Recycled Paper
Have fun making recycled paper using scraps of used paper
in your home. Follow these steps to make beautiful recycled
paper that you could use for making art or writing letters.
This
activity is an excellent sensory experience for children,
and it
also helps them appreciate the work involved in creating a
tool we use almost every day: paper!
1. Rip up your used paper into small pieces (one inch long works well).Note: Use any
uncoated paper available in your home, but not shiny or glossy paper (like magazine
covers and pages).
2. Separate the paper by color. This will allow you to make recycled paper in different
shades and hues, if desired. 3. Soak the paper scraps in water for a few hours or
overnight.
4. Place the paper scraps and enough water to cover the scraps in the blender or food
processor, and blend until it becomes a uniform mixture, roughly equivalent to runny
oatmeal. Note: If a blender is unavailable, you could cut the paper into smaller pieces,
make sure to let it soak overnight, and use a fork and your hands to mash up the pulp.
5. Put the mesh or screen on top of the bin. Dump the paper pulp onto the screen and
squeeze as much of the water out by pushing the pulp down onto the screen, letting the
water drip into the bin. Form the pulp into a rectangle or whatever shape you would like
your paper to be. The thickness of the paper can vary.
6. If you choose to add dried flowers or seeds to your paper, this is the time to incorporate
them. Gently press them into the pulp. 7. Put the cloth on top of the pulp and press down to
further remove water from the pulp. The more water you squeeze out now, the faster your
paper will dry.
8. Carefully turn the paper pulp over onto the absorbent cloth and place it in the sun or in a
warm, dry place in your house to dry overnight.
Enjoy using your very own homemade recycled paper! You could use these sheets to
make birthday cards, write on them with permanent markers, create a watercolor painting,
or to give away as gifts to friends and family. If you placed seeds in them, remember to tell
your friends that they can plant the paper!

Grade 2 Science Activity 2

Use grass seed for this experiment because it sprouts fairly quickly but you
can use bean seeds (lima beans soaked overnight in water work well) or any
other type of seed you wish.
We added the same amount of soil and seed to each cup and labeled them.
We then measured out the same amount of water for each cup and watered
the seeds with the different types of water and set them by the window.
Students make predictions as to which one they feel will work best. And what
was their conclusion.
Procedure:
Step 1: Start with four plastic cups, each filled about 1/3 full with soil from our
yard. To all cups we added three different seeds: a broccoli seed, a lettuce
seed, and a pea seed.
Step 2: Then we added labels that said “plain water,” “salt water,” “sugar
water,” and “vinegar”
Step 3: To create salt water, salt water (1 cup water with 1 Tbsp salt).
Step 4: To create sugar water, sugar water (1 cup water with 1 Tbsp sugar).
Step 5: Then to each of the seed cups we added the labelled liquid. We then
placed the cups on our kitchen window sill to see how the seeds would grow.
Over the next several days we continued to add liquid to each of the cups as
needed to keep the soil moist. I used the extra salt water and sugar water we
created to continue watering the seeds in the salt water and sugar water
conditions.
Step 6: Take a picture of your experiment at the beginning and after one
week's time(when plants have started to grow).
Write a procedure for making a jam and bread sandwich. Make sure you write
the procedure in points. Test your instructions by asking a family member to
follow them and make a sandwich. Take a picture of your instructions and the
sandwich and upload them to Google Classroom.
