be presented in the original. These originals will be returned to the
applicant if he/she wishes to keep them.
• Other particulars may be submitted in the original or as an officially
certified copy.
• Applicants are asked to prepare a set of copies of all the documents as
well.
• Submit only complete applications with all necessary attachments.
• Proceedings on applications that do not contain all the prescribed
requirements will be stopped, and the applicant will be invited to
complete them (§ 169i + § 169r, paragraph 4 of the Act on the Stay of
Aliens). This will extend the time to process the application.
4. Wait for the decision
• Applications for a long-term residence permit for the purpose of study
are processed within the statutory period of up to 60 days.
5. If your visa is approved, buy travel insurance
• Foreigners are obliged to be insured during their stay in the Czech
Republic. When collecting the visa, submit an officially certified
translation of the insurance contract and general insurance conditions
into the Czech language proving the conclusion of the travel health
insurance and its scope.
• At the request of the consulate, be ready to provide the proof of
payment for the insurance.
6. Pick up the visa if it is approved or the refusal form if the visa is refused.
• Applicants can take away their passports with visas themselves or they
can authorize someone to do so. In such a case, the authorized person
must submit a certified power of attorney. If the applicant informs the
consulate at the time of application that the passport with the visa will be
taken away by someone else, a power of attorney is not required.
Note: The issuance of a visa does not automatically entitle the holder to enter the
Czech Republic, resp. Schengen area. At the external borders, the visa holder is
obliged to prove that he / she meets the conditions for entry set out in the
Schengen Borders Code and may be required to present proof of accommodation,
purpose of stay, etc. upon entry.
Long-term residence permit is intended for citizens of so-called third
countries – i.e. countries outside the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and
Switzerland.
