Objective

The objective of the assignment is to enhance the students’ skills at presenting a business idea with the
aim of securing approval on the viability of the idea to be turned into a full-scale business plan.

Task

You will be presenting the Business Idea discussed during Week 1 – 4. There is no restriction in terms
of ideas. However, the product has to be unique, innovative and commercially viable, practical and
marketability. This means franchised and licensed products or services as well as products or services
that are already in the market will not be accepted as Business Idea. The gestation period to realize the
product/service must be within three (3) years maximum. The team must possess the know-how and
capability of managing the project.

Requirements
 This is a GROUP assignment where a few members of the group will be undertaking the
presentation. The group should comprise of five (5) members. On exceptional cases not more
than 6 and not fewer than 4 members per group.
 As a form of inclusiveness, those who participated will not be allowed to present in group
assignment 3.
 Source of materials must be reliable and credible in nature. E.g. academic books, journal articles and
newspaper articles. All information/data/statistics/diagrams used must be cited following the
Harvard Referencing System 2015.
 Prior to the presentation, it is expected that the group has:
- Completed brainstorming sessions to develop a list of unique and innovative ideas
- Discuss the ideas with focus group e.g. people who are knowledgeable on the subject
- Done a comprehensive research e.g. internet, references, market studies etc. on the selected
idea.
 Presentation dates: Week 5 (8/2 – 14/2) in your respective tutorial session.
 Failure to meet deadline due to loss of file and breakdown of computer/printer will not be
accepted.
 If there are any extenuating circumstances which prevents you from attending the presentation
- for example, medical or emergency cases you must inform the lecturer/tutor directly or
indirectly via your classmates BEFORE or ON the date when your group is presenting. Supporting
evidence must be presented latest by the next tutorial. Failing which you will not receive any
marks despite a group work.
 There will be no replacement presentation.

Hard Copy Submission of PP Slides


 A hard copy of the slides (4 slides to a page) needs to be given during the presentation.
 Documents to be handed in: Cover page and powerpoint slides.
 The powerpoint slides that you hand in should be the same as the one you present.

Oral Presentation
 Please note your presentation slot and start and end punctually.
 Duration of presentation: 8 minutes max. There will be a 5 minutes Q & A session after the
presentation.
 You are required to dress formally e.g. office attire for the presentation.
 You should engage with the presentation in a professional, organized and timely manner.
 The presentation will be evaluated using the criteria identified in the Business Idea Validation
