Admission to a 4-year degree programme of study at MUAST for the March/April and August 2021 intakes, a student
must have the following qualifications in the ZIMSEC / CAMBRIDGE examinations or equivalent:

All applicants MUST have 5 (five) O` Level passes including English Language and Mathematics and any three of the
POSTGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMMES ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MARCH 2021 following subjects: Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Accounts, Geography, Agriculture, Physics, Integrated Science, Physical

Degree Program Entry requirements
FACULTY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY Bachelor of Science Honours 2‘A’ Level passes in Biology and any one of the following subjects:
in Animal Science and Agriculture, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography or any other related subject.

Degree Programme Entry Requirements Technology Or

Applicants should be holders of a Diploma in Agriculture from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade of Merit or better. Applicants with a Pass
grade should have at least 2 years work experience in the relevant field.
Appropriate good honours degree from recognised universities in one of the
MSc. Degree in following: Bachelor of Science Honours 2‘A’ Level passes in Biology / Agriculture and any one of the following subjects:
a)Agriculture including approved animal science courses; in Crop Production Technology Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography or any other related subject
Animal Science- b)Veterinary Science
Or

(MAS) Applicants should be holders of a Diploma in Agriculture from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade of Merit or better. Applicants with a Pass
grade should have at least 2 years work experience in the relevant field.
(Note: where this degree has been awarded without classification, then evidence
will be required that performance has been equivalent to a good honours degree) Bachelor of Science Honours 2‘A’ Level passes in Biology / Agriculture and any one of the following subjects:
in Horticulture Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Geography or any other related subject
Or
c) Biological Sciences. Agronomists, Biotechnologists, Extension Specialist, Conservationist, Agropreneur
Applicants should be holders of a Diploma in Agriculture from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade of Merit or better. Applicants with a Pass
grade should have at least 2 years work experience in the relevant field.
Normally, evidence will be required to show that candidates have performed
satisfactorily in courses in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Statistics.
Applicants whose previous experience is inadequate may be required to attend
selected undergraduate courses as occasional students towards qualifying for FACULTY OF AGRIBUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
admission to the MSc programme.

DegreProgramme Entry Requirements

MSc. Degree in Crop An appropriate good Honours degree from a recognised University in the
following: Bachelor of Science 2‘A’ Level passes including any of the following subjects: Mathematics, Economics, Accounts, Management of Business, Geography, Agriculture or any other related subject.
Science (Agronomy/ a) Crop Science Honours in Agribusiness
Entrepreneurship and
Or
Applicants with relevant Diploma from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade of Merit or better. Applicants with a Pass grade should have at least 2
Plant Breeding)- b) Horticulture Management years work experience in the relevant field.

(MCR) c) Biological Sciences

Degree Programme Entry Requirements Bachelor of Science Honours in 2‘A’ Level passes including any of the following subjects: Economics, Accounts, Management of Business, Mathematics, Geography, Computer Science or any other related
Digital Marketing subject.
Or
Applicants with relevant Diploma from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade of Merit or better. Applicants with a Pass grade should have at least 2
years work experience in the relevant field.

Bachelor of Science Honours in 2‘A’ Level passes including any of the following subjects: Mathematics, Economics, Accounts, Management of Business, Geography, Agriculture or any other related subjects.
An appropriate good Honours degree from a recognised University in the
MSc. Degree in following:
Supply Chain Management Or
Applicants with relevant Diploma from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade of Merit or better. Applicants with a Pass grade should have at least 2
Crop Protection- a) Crop Science years work experience in the relevant field.

(MCP) b) Horticulture Bachelor of Science Honours 2‘A’ Level passes including any of the following subjects: Mathematics, Economics, Accounts, Management of Business, Geography, Agriculture or any other related subjects.
c) Biological Sciences in Development Sciences and Or
Policy Applicants with relevant Diploma from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade of Merit or better. Applicants with a Pass grade should have at least 2
years work experience in the relevant field.

FACULTY OF AGRI-BUSINESS AND ENTERPRENEURSHIP

FACULTY OF EARTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
MSc. in Agricultural An appropriate good honours degree from a recognised University in one of

Bachelor of Science Honours in 2‘A’ Level passes in any of the following subjects:
c) Economics Natural Resources Management Biology, Agriculture, Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics, Accounts, Management of Business, Geography Sociology, Economics, History, Divinity and Literature in English.
d) Agribusiness Or
Applicants with relevant Diploma in Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Sciences from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade of Merit
d) Appropriate and relevant Social Science degree as approved by the Department or better. Applicants with a Pass grade should have at least 2 years work experience in the relevant field.

MARCH/APRIL 2021 of Agribusiness and Entrepreneurship

Bachelor of Science Honours in 2‘A’ Level passes in any of the following subjects:
• Where the degree was awarded without classification, then evidence is required Wildlife Fisheries Conservation Biology, Agriculture, Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography.

INTAKE that performance was equivalent to a good honours degree.

• Applicants seeking admission and whose academic background is not in agriculture
Or
Applicants with relevant Diploma in Wildlife, Fisheries, Natural Resources Management from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade of Merit or better.
Applicants with a Pass grade should have at least 2 years work experience in the relevant field.
or agricultural economics may be admitted on the basis of relevant work experience
in these fields.
Bachelor of Science Honours in 2‘A’ Level passes in any of the following subjects:
Environmental Science
Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Agriculture, Mathematics, Environmental Science or Geography.
The duration for the degree programmes is 2 years Or
Applicants with relevant Diploma in Agriculture, Natural Resources Management, Environmental Sciences from a recognized institution and should have attained an overall grade of
Merit or better. Applicants with a Pass grade should have at least 2 years work experience in the relevant field.
