INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study

Mathematics is essential part of the school curriculum, as it is used in both daily life and the
study of other subjects. It involves making predictions about the natural world and solving issues
through logical reasoning and critical thinking.

Mathematics is crucial for creating new technologies and improving human understanding since
it has numerous applications in science, engineering, economics, and other sectors. For some
reason, Mathematics is one of the unloved subjects. Many students have low grades and lack
interest in the subjects. Thus, teachers need to know who among the students are experiencing
difficulties with and make an intervention that will help them to overcome these

Statement of the Problem

This mini-research will help the researchers determine the performance of Grade 10 Loyalty
Students in Mathematics for the Third Quarter at Natividad National High School during the
Academic year 2023-2024

Significance of the Study


The research can be able to identify those students who need help and intervention on the
subject. This will reveal if the students of G10 are struggling with mathematics or not.

Hypothesis

Grade 10 Loyalty students at Natividad National High School will demonstrate improved
performance in mathematics during the third quarter of the academic year 2023-2024 compared
to the previous quarters. This improvement is expected due to the implementation of targeted
teaching strategies, increased student engagement, and ongoing support provided by teachers and
the school administration.

METHODOLOGY

Data Collection
Research Design This is quantitative research. Documentary analysis and purposive sampling
was used in conducting this mini-research.

Participants/ Respondents

Grade 10 Students at Natividad NHS of S.Y. 2022-2023.

Data Gathering

The data were taken from the teacher's class record.

• 80% of Grade10- Loyalty students got a grade of which is equal or less than to 88.
• 20% of Grade10- Loyalty students got a grade of which equal or greater than to 88.
• 40.46% (17) of Grade10- Loyalty students got a grade or which is equal or less than to 79.
• 59.54% (25) of Grade10- Loyalty students got a grade o which is equal or greater to 79. 181|

Summary:

The performance of Grade 10 Loyalty students in Mathematics for the third quarter at Natividad
National High School during the academic year 2023-2024 was assessed. The assessment aimed
to evaluate students' understanding and proficiency in mathematical concepts during this period.

Conclusion:

Based on the assessment conducted, it was found that Grade 10 Loyalty students exhibited
varying levels of performance in Mathematics during the third quarter. While some students
demonstrated strong comprehension and mastery of the subject matter, others struggled to grasp
certain concepts. Factors such as teaching methods, student engagement, and individual learning
styles likely influenced these outcomes.

Recommendation:

To enhance the performance of Grade 10 Loyalty students in Mathematics, several


recommendations are proposed
