First of all, you needs to understand what is KEYWORD, because this will come everywhere, means
whenever you read or talk about SEO, this will come frequently.

• KEYWORD is whatever you writes at GOOGLE SEARCH BAR


• KEYWORD is the search term which you wants to find at GOOGLE
• KEYWORD can be a single word or a combination of words or a phrase or a sentence

What is SEO ?

The process of creating or editing a website that Google can understand better

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a set of tactics for improving the ranking of a website on
GOOGLE

Goal of SEO ?

is to rank #1 for search term or say keyword (i.e. word(s) written at GOOGLE search bar)

Advantages of doing SEO

It helps your website to appear on top of the search results, allowing potential customers to
find your business
SEO can deliver hundreds of targeted leads per day to your business for FREE

Key takeaways of SEO

It is a long-term process for building your website’s credibility and relevance in search
engines
Keep inmind that that the results of it are not often immediate
Perceive SEO as the long-term marketing strategy that should last at least 6 to 12 months
You can do it on your own. Don’t spend big chunks of amount on it

2 Types of SEO

1st is On Page (All work is to be done on your website or say on home page, i.e. all in-house)

Provide good, knowledgeable, relevant and quick to read content


Putting keywords on right places of your page
Apply known tactics of SEO (see on page 4)

As already said above that good & generic content is a must good regarding SEO tactics, there are
also some rules, tips or say techniques which you can apply in order to boost the SEO.

In this document, we will only discuss the basic of On Page SEO

2.) At Google
Hence, to start with, first you need to understand some terminologies which appears at Google.
They are as follows…

URL / File / Page Title Meta Description

Keyword or say the text someone types at Google

All in all, a novice just need to understand these 4 terminologies mentioned above

Meta Description lets the visitor to know / read a brief intro (what it is all about)
about your website or web page at Google

3.) At Your Website Page
Now then, How and where to set the things mentioned above at our end (website / web page) so
that the desired purpose of SEO can get accomplished. To start with, find these 2 blocks / lines of
HTML code at your web page…

<title> …. </title>
This is the value which appears at Google as the main heading

<meta name=“description” content=” … ” />


This is the value which appears at Google as a brief intro. This helps people decide whether to click
on your result, or a result above or below yours !!! But one catch here is that this value is not
compulsory to appear as it is at Google. It also depends on the content written at our web page.
Means content of the web page and this meta description must be relevant as per norms

Some considerations to apply for <title> …. </title> tag

• Length should not be more than 70 characters


• Shouldn't consist of more than 9 words
• Maximum 2 keywords can be used
• Use Pipes (|) symbol to separate keywords and phrases
• Use keywords at the very beginning
• Home & Contact page must contain BUSINESS NAME; In all others; do not include it
• Make sure the <title> tag is the first element in the <head> section of your page
• keep it unique, means no repetition of same title across all pages
• Can use "Country Name" at the end
• Do not include your BUSINESS NAME unless your company is very well known

Some considerations to apply for <meta name=“description” content=” … ” /> tag

• Be under 150 characters but greater than 100 characters


• Incorporate the primary keyword and at least one secondary keyword
• Provide a valuable, compelling reason for why someone should visit your web page
• Can use "Country Name"
• keep it unique across all pages

Now then, three more blocks to focus on your website page

1 is <h1> … </h1> tag


Here h stands for heading and 1 means main

In total, it means main heading of the page. It should contain these charactersticks…

• Incorporates the primary keyword


• Should align (meaning wise) with the "page title" and the "URL/Link" of the page
• Should appear at the top of the page
• Should be the first thing visitor see when they arrive on your page
• Page should have only one H1 heading tag

2 is <meta name=“keywords” content=” … ” /> block


In the first paragraph of this document, we learnt about KEYWORD which you write at GOOGLE
SEARCH BAR

Now it is your/our turn to write the matching KEYWORDS at your/our website page, so that
whenever any one at GOOGLE searches for something by writing the KEYWORD, then GOOGLE
knows that this KEYWORD is located at your/our website page and hence your/our websitecan
appear at GOOGLE SEARCH RESULT PAGE also known as SERP i.e. Search engine results page

Understand this via an example…

1.) Suppose our website is related with software agency based in Texas, USA

2.) Now at our website page, we wrote meta keywords block like this…

agency in usa” />

3.) Now if someone at GOOGLE, types “software company in texas”, then in results page, our
website can appear (based on rankings) because this keyword is matching with the keyword
wriiten at our website page

3 is Page content is the area in which you writes the details about the topic (heading of the
page). It is the most important part and GOOGLE gives it the topmost priority in terms of searching.

• Content ( text, graphics and links ) is the king and has the top most priority
• Use primary & secondary keyword a few times throughout this area (SYNONYMS and
PLURALS as well )
• Divide your content into short paragraphs & small statements so as to make it more
readable & understandable
• There are as many opinions about keyword density by SEO experts. Some say, keyword
density should be 5% and some say it should be 20%. You can go with 10% which is good
enough. Here, density means “how much times the main KEYWORD is appearing”
• Try to bold or underline the keyword at least once
• Having keywords in the first heading and in the first paragraph (first 20 words or so) on a
page are best
