6.3.1.1 Warnings
HAZARD! Always disconnect the power supply before work is carried
out !
Care must be taken when operating the spreader from the SCS4
main unit. It must be carried out under extreme caution and by per-
sonnel familiar with risks related to spreader function and movements.
Serious injury by crushing can occur.

Motor controls
Commands are sent from the crane via the SCS4 control unit to the
spreader actuators and motors, resulting in spreader movements.
Sensors send signals back to the system that the movements have
been made. The signals are transferred back to the SCS4 via I/O units,
where they are converted to CANopen and sent back via the control
unit to the crane. All events in the system are logged by the control
unit.

There are different access right levels:
NORMAL: The user can navigate and read the different menus. This
access level does not require a password.
SUPERVISOR: Required to control the spreader from the screen.
Note!
When logged in part of crane commands are
interlocked. To enable crane commands log out.
Remember to log out on Start > Log out when you are finished! After
logging out the system returns to the NORMAL level.

Navigation Bar
Navigation bar is used to make different application data views visible.
The Navigation Bar menu consists of two levels where each item on
the first level has a corresponding menu list. When starting from Home
Screen the First Level is shown a top of the other level. When item is
selected the first level is hidden (not completely) and the menu items
of the corresponding selected item from the first level are thereafter
visible.
It is possible to press visible icons but if user is not sure which icon

Start/Home Page
SCS4 is mounted on the spreader; therefore the screen is only used
when spreader is idling on the ground, for example if something is
wrong or during service/maintenance. The first page, start page, will
meet the service engineer and show him a brief general status and
list the problems that may have been detected.
Most important and time critical is the list of problems.
Tip When pressing any of the problems detected and
shown in the Error list SCS4 shows the Event List
Page.

CANopen – Overview
CAN (Controller Area Network) is a serial bus system. CANopen is a
CAN-based higher layer protocol. It was developed as a standardized
embedded network with highly flexible configuration capabilities.
The CANopen specifications cover application layer and
communication profile (CiA DS 301), as well as a framework for
Hardware Performance
Power
Supply
• Supply voltage 10-30VDC.
- Normal functionality at 24 VDC nominal voltages shall be
supported.
Ground
• Enclosure shall be connected to electronics ground potential with
connector M5 screw (similar to XSb).
- M5 11.3 mm depth.
Interface
CAN
• 2 independent channels.
• Support CAN ISO 11898 2.0B.
• Max speed 250 Kbit/s, standard use 125Kbit/s.
• One single connector per channel (according to CANopen Std
PIN).
• Short-circuit protection towards all terminals in connector, supply
voltage and ground (should be readable trough software API).
• Galvanic isolation of the channels.
- Isolation voltage 500VDC.
- Internal power supply for isolated ports.
- A possibility to bypass galvanic isolation with zero-ohm resistors
shall be implemented.
Buzzer
Front mounted buzzer also available through API.
Touch Screen

Computing
Environmental requirements
According to Bromma General Electrical Requirements (Krpuljevic,
2011).
Vibrations continuously affect all components on the spreader. With
help of an electro-hydraulic shaker table is it possible to stress and
simulate components and see / verify that the projected lifetime of a
component meets Bromma Conquip requirements with regard to
mechanical stress.
The equipment shall comply with the following environmental and
EMC tests during construction phase and periodic re-compliance test
on agreement with the manufacturer and Bromma Conquip.
Environmental testing
The test objects are energized and in normal operational mode during
the exposure. The test objects are observed during the exposure and
a functional test is performed after the exposure.
Performance criterion B.
Surge immunity test, EN 61000-4-5
Test level / installation classification 4, amplitude at power ports:
±0.5kV( line to line) , ±0.5kV( line to ground) and ±1kV signal. The
test objects are energized and in normal operational mode during the
exposure. The test objects are observed during the exposure and a
functional test is performed after the exposure.
Performance criterion B.
Immunity to conducted disturbance, induced by radio-frequency
fields. EN 61000-4-6
Test level 3, 10V_RMS, 0.15…80 MHz
The test objects are energized and in normal operational mode during
the exposure. The test objects are observed during the exposure and
a functional test is performed after the exposure
Performance criterion A.
EMC emissions, EN 55011 Class A, Group 1, Industrial
environment (ISM) / or the generic immunity standard for
industrial environments EN 61000-6-4
(Limits in EN 5011 Class A is equivalent with EN 61000-6-4)
The scope of the EMC emissions tests is to verify that the EUT does
not generate any type of electromagnetic disturbance that will influence
on the performance of other type of electronic equipment.
Radiated emission, 10 m measurement distance
Frequency range Radiated emission
Markings:
• CE marking according to EMC directive 2004/108/EC
• Restrictions of hazardous substances RoHS 2002/95/EC and
2011/65/EC
• Batch marking of individual component or production year/week.
• Bromma Conquip article number
• Relevant marking plates for connection and warning signs etc.
