Project Proposal
I. Activity Title: Sustainable Waste Management Project: An Organic Communal Garden of

Barangay Cadinglian Oton, Iloilo Using Organic Composting and Recyclable Materials

II. Activity Duration: May 1 – August 30, 2024

III. Activity Location: Brgy. Cadinglian Oton, Iloilo

IV. Activity Implementer: 3rd year Community Development Students, SK Officials, 4H Club

and Barangay Officials

V. Rationale:

The Bachelor of Science in Community Development 3rd-year students of Iloilo Science

and Technology aim to foster the community by facilitating their involvement in addressing

certain problems, which involves community participation and incorporates sustainable ideas

to help provide solutions to their problems. With the cooperation of the Barangay SK

Officials, 4H Club, and the Barangay Council, a sustainable project shall be employed,

focusing on solutions for sustainable waste management.

The approach involves community participatory, where in the community will be the one

to implement this project through their resources. Through Barangay Officials, SK Officials,

PYAP, and 4H and the people in the community this project can be a successful best practice

of the barangay. The sustainable waste management project does not only focus on the

environmental aspect but also to the health and well-being of the community people. Where

in this project provides easy access food source which composes of organic and recyclable

materials that is good for the environment and also to the people. This can also help on the
malnutrition cases for the communal garden can be a food source for the children under the

day care center that they can be use as snacks and meal for the children to enjoy.

The Sustainable Waste Management Project: An Organic Communal Garden of Barangay

Cadinglian Oton, Iloilo using Organic Composting and Recyclable Material proposes the

sustainability of the community through organic planting and recycling waste in order to

address both community issue. The improper waste disposal which can be harmful for the

community, with this the community will not only eliminate trash but also create a healthy

and sustainable environment for the people. This project will benefit the community by

integrating their Municipal Ordinance and RA 9003: the Ecological Solid Waste Management

Act Of 2000.

VI. Objectives:

This activity aims to:

1. Provide community initiative to mitigate the harmful effects of waste to health of the

community.

2. Install easy access community garden for the community people.

3. Use waste as materials for the garden and also as compost pit.

4. Insure a sustainable community project for the barangay.
