Activity : 1 and 2
-Objectives:
Strategies:
Presentation:
Warm up: asking questions if anyone has planted a seed before, then asking them again what
does the plant need to grow?
The plant needs: water, sunlight, soil, and air to grow well.
➢ What does a plant need to survive?
Evaluation: put ( √ ) or ( x )
Both plants and animals need food and water everyday to survive. ( )
Plants need air and water only to grow. ()
Complete the following sentences:
The plant consists of ………… , ……………. and …………
…………………. absorb water from the soil for growth of the plant.

Presentation:
Warm-up : asking questions about the needs of humans and plants to grow and survive.
➢ Plants and animals
• Plants need water, air, sunlight, and nutrients from soil as basic needs to live
and grow.
➢ Plant needs : Basic plant needs – not basic plant needs.
➢ Plants and food
Evaluation:
Complete the following questions:
1-Plants make their own food through …………. the photosynthesis process.
2-The ……….. absorb water and minerals from the soil.
3-……………….. , ………………,and …………….. are basic needs of the plant.

Objectives:
3.Compare between the growth of the seeds in the soil and the seeds that grow in the paper towels.
Educational aids :
Presentation: Warm up : asking question : have you ever planted a bean seed in a paper towel?
Tools : a 250 ml plastic cup – soil –paper towels – seeds (beans or any other types) –plastic bags – water –
metric ruler – pen or marker )
-Place three seeds on the top half of the paper towel. Fold the bottom half of the towel up so that it
covers the seeds. Place the paper towels inside the plastic bag and seal it.
-Label the bag and the cup with your name. Then, place the bag and the cup in a place where they
can get sunlight.
-Check the growth of the seeds over the next several days. Dampen the paper towel and water the
soil as needed.
Conclusion : Plants can grow without the soil for a while if they have water and sunlight, but later
they will need either soil or an alternative that provides minerals and other important elements.
Evaluation: Put ( √ ) or (X )
1-The plant cannot grow outside the soil. ( )

Lesson: 3
Activity: 7 - 8
Objectives:
1.Compare between the plant that grows in the presence of light, and the plant that grows in the dark.

Strategies:
Brain storming Discussion Solving Problem Role playing
Presentation: Warm up: asking questions : Does the plant grow in the sunlight as the
plant grow in the dark?
In this activity, you will test some of your ideas about how the plants grow in the light and in the dark.
We conclude that, Sunlight is one of the basic needs of the plant to survive and grow.
➢ All living organisms have basic needs that they must meet to survive.
The plant has a system that helps it to absorb water and nutrients from the soil and deliver them to all parts of
the plant.
Stomata: they’re tiny openings that allow air that the plant needs to move into the leaves.
Evaluation:
1- In photosynthesis process, green plants get ……… from air to make its own food.
2- There are tiny holes called ……… in the plant that transport water and nutrients to other plant parts.

➢ Plant roots : plant roots functions : 1- anchor the plant in the soil – they absorb
water and nutrients from the soil – they’ve features called root hairs.
➢ Stem: transport water and nutrients to all the parts of plant-gives the plant
support
➢ Leaves : makes food for the plant through the photosynthesis process.
➢ Photosynthesis process : takes place inside the leaves – there is chlorophyll inside
the leaf that captures energy from sunlight – it is responsible for energy
production for the plant

Brain storming Discussion Solving Problem Role playing
Presentation: warm up : asking questions ? does the plant need water and air like human
to survive ?
Plants can get energy through photosynthesis process, while humans search for food.
Air enters the plant through the leaves, while air enters our bodies through the nose and
mouth.
Circulatory system : it is the system that transports blood and other fluids throughout
the body.
There are two types of blood vessels : arteries and veins . There is transport system in
plants that consists of : xylem and phloem.
1-Plants get energy through ……………. while humans get energy through …………
2-Circulatory system consists of ... And ... While transport system consists of ... and ….

Objectives:
Educational aids :
Strategies:
Presentation: warm up : what are the similarities between plant transport system and
human circulatory system?
plants have some structures that take in water and nutrients from the soil and move
them to other parts of the plant.
Plants also have other structures that absorb sunlight and take in carbon dioxide to
make glucose sugar which is used by plant cells for food.
Phloem moves glucose from the leaves to the other parts of the plant.
During photosynthesis process, the plant also produces oxygen and water which are
released into the air.
Flowers produce seeds for the plant that help the plant to reproduce.
1-Plants make their own food in form of ……….. during photosynthesis process.

Strategies:
Presentation: Warm up : asking questions : do plants use the energy the get from the
food they make to produce seeds ?
Seeds are transported from one place to another, this process called seed dispersal.
