1. Travelling in group with a tour guide is the best way to travel.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Nowadays, people have their own preferences about how to travel. Some people prefer to
travel alone others prefer to travel in groups with tour guide. I agree that it is the greatest
way to travel as a group with a tour guide for several reasons.

First, a tour guide will let people know about the places they will visit and show the best
places.

First, a tour guide will let people know about the places they will visit and show the best
places. Most of the time, people traveling alone do not know the places to visit and so
waste a lot of time trying to find something valuable to see. In addition, tour guides know
things about a certain place that are not generally mentioned in books or brochures.

Second, traveling in a group can ensure safety. Many parts of the world are quite
dangerous to travel alone. When traveling with tour guides, they can protect their group
members from this kind of dangerous situation.

In conclusion, although some people might agree that traveling as a group with a
tour guide is not the best idea, I strongly agree with the idea that traveling in the group
with a guide is the best decision in terms of great information and safety.

2. Nowadays computers are widely used in education. As a result, some people
think teachers no longer play important roles in classrooms.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

With the rapidly developing computer technology, the computer has made a great
contribution to education. In that case, a number of people argue that teachers have not
played a vital role in the school as before. As far as I am concerned, I advocate that
teachers are still essential for teaching students. My reasons are presented below.

The first reason is that only with the help of teachers, can the students learn effectively
and efficiently. First of all, teachers can help students fight against distractions while
students would be always distracted by chatting with others or playing phone games in
the classroom. So, teachers could monitor them to concentrate on the lectures.

The second reason is that teachers not only teach knowledge, but also help students in
developing their psychological health. For one thing, teachers in the classroom could
oversee every students’ activities and keep an eye on their psychological status. If the
students get some psychological issues, teachers could take measures rapidly. For another
thing, teachers also teach students about how to get in touch with others, which is useful
for their psychological health.

The final reason is that teachers’ role in some practical subjects could not be replaced by
computers. For example, teachers play significant roles in experiment class or field trip.
In those cases, students must be instructed by teachers.

In conclusion, although computers take a great part in teaching students nowadays,

teachers still cannot be totally replaced by computers. Teachers play essential roles in
helping students to learn fast and develop their psychological health

3. Information technology is changing many aspects of our lives and now

dominates our home, leisure and work activities.
To what extent do the benefits of information technology outweigh the
disadvantages?

It can not be denied that information technology is now affecting numerous aspects of our
lives and playing an essential part in our daily activities. Whereas this development still has
its own drawbacks, in my opinion, there are far more benefits.
On the one hand, there are some negative impacts dominated by information technology.
Through the Internet, people now can perform various tasks by just searching and clicking on
the computer. Most teenagers prefer chatting with their friends on the social networks than
having face-to-face conversations. The technology advances also make people become
lazier, therefore, affect their levels of health and fitness. More and more people are taking up
watching TV or surfing the Internet as their hobbies instead of playing sports or doing
outdoor activities.

On the other hand, I believe that the flourish of computer scienece has made a lot of positive
changes to our daily lives. In home activities, technology allows people to do their
houseworks in a more convenient way. Mothers no longer need to go to the supermarket to
buy groceries and food, instead, they can stay at home and do their shopping on online
markets. People also have access to the rich online sources of entertainment and can easily
turn their house into a mini cinema or theater. In work activities, the invention of machines
makes it easier to do hard labor works and helps increase the productivity of producing
goods.

In conclusion, information technology is altering our lives in both positive and negative
ways. However, the benefits of this development are undeniable.

years, but not many of them can use English to communicate well. In order to
improve the quality of English learning and teaching in Vietnam, it is
strongly recommended that English should be taught by native English

To what extend do you agree or disagree?

Some people may argue that many Vietnamese students study English for years, but not
many of them can use English to communicate well. In order to improve the quality of
English learning and teaching in Vietnam, it is strongly recommended that English
should be taught by native English teachers only. I totally disagree for several reasons

Firstly, Vietnamese teachers often study English grammar very carefully.

Sometimes their grammar is even better than that of native speakers.
Therefore, if students want to improve their grammar to use English
correctly, learning English with Vietnamese teachers can be very effective

Secondly, Vietnamese teachers are the ones who understand the most
common mistakes Vietnamese people make when learning English thanks to
their rich experience in their learning. Therefore, they will orient a much
more streamlined and effective exam preparation route for students.
In conclusion, the strength of Vietnamese teachers may not be phonetics and
intonation. But if you want to improve your English skill, you still can choose
Vietnamese teachers.

11. It has been said that people who read for pleasure have more developed
imaginations and better language skills than people who prefer to watch TV.
Do you agree or disagree?

Some people think that reading for pleasure increases people’s imagination and language
skills more so than watching TV does. Personally, I totally agree with this view and will
analyse the reasons in the following essay.

Reading for enjoyment can help people to develop their imagination and improve their
language skills in many ways. Firstly, while watching television is said to be more of a
passive activity, reading is considered to be an active form of learning. Reading
stimulates people’s brains more as they have to use their imagination to visualise the
characters and plot of the story, and this helps to further develop their imaginative
thinking skills. Secondly, language skills can also be improved from reading. By reading
regularly, people can expand their vocabulary and learn different grammatical structures
and how to use them effectively.

Watching TV, on the other hand, does little to enhance people’s imagination and
language skills. While reading, people have plenty of time to read the text and visualise
the content of the story. However, when watching TV, viewers use their imagination very
little, as they can see the images on the screen. Furthermore, the dialogue of the story or
movie is usually spoken at a fast pace, which does not give viewers much time to
comprehend what is being said, let alone learning anything new. Finally, television is full
of advertisements these days and therefore distracts viewers from what they are watching.
This makes it even more difficult for people to absorb information that might enhance
their language skills.

In conclusion, I believe that reading books is a more efficient way for people to enhance
their imagination and language skills, while watching TV is simply more of a source of
entertainment.

15. Some people say that physical exercise should be a required part of every

16. Some people think that newspapers are the best way to get news. However,
others believe that they can get news better through other media.
17. In some countries, young people are encouraged to work or travel for a year
between finishing high school and starting university studies.
Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for young people who decide to do this.
In many parts of the world, young people now have a tendency to take a gap year, which
is the time between finishing high school and starting university. From my perspective,
this trend has various advantages as well as drawbacks. This essay will discuss both
sides.

On the one hand, taking a gap year seems like a great opportunity for young people to
discover themselves. This means they can take some time off to find out what they are
really passionate about, which will be vital for their career choice later in life. Students
usually engage in volunteering, taking on different types of jobs or traveling to another
country to experience a foreign culture. Moreover, people who choose to work before
entering university will have less of a financial burden and they are believed to acquire
more skills than those who don’t go to work before higher education.

On the other hand, I believe that this trend can bring about several disadvantages that
should not be overlooked. Firstly, the biggest drawback is distraction. In other words,
young people who spend way too much time earning money or traveling might be
discouraged to go back to their study. Those who actually get on with their study may
find it overwhelming at first as the experience is not as relaxing and enjoyable and they
are more likely to fall behind. In addition, there are risks of getting sick or injured when
people travel too often; some might even have fatal accidents. Furthermore, some
recruiters say that they don’t really appreciate applicants’ gap year if it’s not significant.

In conclusion, while taking some time off studying to explore the world may sound like a
good idea for people who have just finished school, I strongly believe that the
disadvantages that it brings are more substantial.

18. Some people believe that all the children in school are required to learn at
least one foreign language. However, others say that those who are not
talented do not have to learn. What is your opinion?

19. An increasing number of people are now using the Internet to meet new
people and socialize. Some people think this has brought people closer
together while others think people are becoming more isolated.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
20. The role of education is to prepare children for the modern world. Schools should
cut arts and music out of the curriculum so that children can focus on useful
subjects such as information technology.
To what extent do you agree?
