KATE RAMOS PABULAR THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD

2BSAIS-3
ASSIGNMENT 1

Read an article relevant to the concept of Globalization. Define globalization based

from the article. Explain the factors of globalization present in the article.

Globalization is the process of increased interconnectedness and

interdependence among nations, cultures, and economies. The article discusses
several factors contributing to globalization, including technological advances,
economic integration, and cultural exchange. It also explores the implications of
globalization on various aspects of society, such as economics, culture, and politics.
Smith (2022).

Globalization has an effect on the economy as well. It includes the expanding

and quickening movement of financial transactions, investments, and products and
services across international borders. Additionally, it is the growth of trade systems
among multinational players like businesses or nongovernmental organizations.
Science and technology also have a role. According to Christoff and Eckersley (2013),
the adoption of new technologies is frequently seen as just one aspect of economic
globalization. Globalization led to the rapid development of new transport
technologies, such as jet engines and containerization in international shipping, and
revolutions in sharing information as well as communication technologies. These
developments speed up and extend geographically international economic
coordination and exchange. In politics,it encompasses political actors, networks, and
governance structures. In this aspect, it includes global political movements, global
political ideologies, and the development of sophisticated military technologies.

Since our world has gradually become more connected and dependent,
globalization has made significant contributions. The globalization process is
influenced by a number of elements. Since globalization affects cultural values, one of
the factors is culture. People can communicate more with one another and learn more
about one another because of globalization. A bridge was also constructed to close the
gap between the nations. Cultural globalization covers the growing reach and
intensification of symbolic exchanges between societies arising from the increasing
movement of people, goods, and services, and most importantly, the spread of modern
communication technologies.

Culture globalization has something to do with the increasing dominance of

particular languages and the spread of both high and popular culture, ranging from
Western classical music, pop, and rock to fashion and films. These developments will
lead to cultural diversity. Another thing about cultural globalization is that it interprets
the culture in which the nation adopts the principles, beliefs, and costumes of other
nations, losing their unique culture to a unique, globalized supra-culture.

Globalization, which has condensed the cumulative ecological effects of

human activity, is the cause of an oncoming worldwide environmental crisis. Since
everyone is affected by the weather and we are all protected by the same atmosphere,
the concept of viewing planet Earth as a single global entity is one that all societies
should work to preserve. In this context, it is sometimes asserted that the poorest
nations, which have produced the least pollution, will bear the brunt of the effects of
climate change. Overall, there is no doubting that globalization benefits us greatly,
and we are all reaping its rewards in various ways. Christoff and Eckersley (2013).
